    Got the comparison up.

Please note that this was based on a one-time viewing of the dub, so its accuracy cannot be guaranteed. There are probably edits that I missed, and some of the edits I reported about may not be accurate. Think of this as a rough draft only.

If anyone has any additions or corrections to add, let me know.

    Thanks Dogasu.

Tori sounded a lot like Sammy to me; sometimes when I would gaze away for a moment, I'd think I was watching Movie 4.

Also, is that the correct way to pronounce "Rayquaza"? For the last two years, I've pronounced it "Ray-Kwah-Zuh" and not "Ray-KWAY-Zuh". That makes two for three for me mispronouncing the Hoenn legendary trio's names (Groodon/Growdon), and I haven't heard Kyogre's in the dub either.

The movie's alright overall; many of Dogasu's complaints are very valid. Cutting off the "Hamburger Kudasai/Passport Onegaishimasu" part was sad; it was perhaps the funniest part of the Japanese movie for me because of the way Rocket-Dan said it, as well as the robot's reaction. Ah well.

MAYBE MOVIE 8 WILL BE BETTER!!!!!

My movies in order from favorite to least favorite: Jirachi > Celebi > Lugia > Deoxys > Entei > Mewtwo > Latios/Latias

I think we really need to wait for the DVD release to see the 'real' edits vs time edits.

    Who dubbed Kaba-chan?

I really enjoyed watching Destiny Deoxys since it was a great film.

I liked the part where Munchlax picked up the trash can and tried to throw the trash back in (that was so cute). I also liked the battle in the Battle Tower even though Ash and May weren't battling together. The part about Deoxys being able to generate shadow Deoxys was kind of neat. Not to mention the CGI was pretty neat. I also did like Rebecca (the trainer with the metagross) since she was good looking.

As for what I didn't like well the film was anti-climatic since you'd expect that the part which Rayquaza and Deoxys would face against each other would be an epic battle. Instead, it turned out to be the opposite.

    Overall, I give it a 9/10.

If you remember that preview they had around the same time R/S came out, they pronounced Kyogre's name correctly during the first "New Pokemon" segment.

About the pronunciation--does this mean the 'quaza' part is a mispronunciation of 'quazar'?

It's spelled 'Quasar'. The katakana spelling has 'rekkūza' but the official romanisation has 'Rayquaza'... If the katakana is to be taken as a pronunciation guide, the romanisation is seriously mangled, or perhaps it's the other way around.

I felt the Rayquaza/Deoxys conflict was sufficiently sorted out when the Deoxys fought to try and protect 'Quaza from the tidal wave of blocks (Actually, the Tsunami of blocks surprised me considering recent events - had it been on Western shores i'd imagine KWB'd have probably not bothered with the movie at all. Case in point, silly Americans bitching that LOTR The Two Towers should have it's name changed because of 9/11...). A further battle wasn't really necessary between the two after that had happened.

Besides, they'd blasted eachother enough times for my satisfaction. Seeing half of Deoxys' being blown off at the start definitely took over reservations I had on the movie because of Deoxys being in it.

I still love the transformations too - they're soooo lucid... *drools*

The Edits list doesn't seem too bad if you assume most of the cuts will be on the DVD. I just hope the Musashi/Butt thing remains in the DVD - one of the most genuinely funny scenes in the movie, and one of the very scarce appearances of Rocket Dan in the movie at all.

And I totally agree with Dogasu on Lovely Boy - never have I heard a song before that made me want to vomit before I heard it... -_-...

    Now that's certainly a different pronunciation to the Japanese (Re-kku-za) for a name they weren't intending to change much. Oo;;

The battles were a let-down, I think... Rayquaza just kind of floated around and shot out energy and Deoxys's movements were (necessarily, of course) at times too robotic to catch special interest. I definitely wanted the "reuniting" of the two Deoxys to turn out to be a horrible mistake that allowed Deoxys to grow even more powerful. I thought for sure that, since people belived the original battle with Rayquaza versus Deoxys was a "territorial" thing, then Rayquaza fighting Deoxys in another city very far away would be evidence enough to the movie characters that it wasn't about territory, and that Rayquaza had a good reason to attack Deoxys. Turns out it didn't.... =\ Also, of course, I disliked that the movie was cut so short. Mewtwo Strikes Back remains my favorite!

The only potentially "offensive" scene that was removed was the Team Rocket scene so I'm sure everything else cut from the WB airing will be on the DVD. Whether the Team Rocket scene will be on there is anybody's guess -- I didn't think censorship would really be an issue now that all the movies are going straight to DVD, but you never know...

Speaking of the DVD, the trailer is now available:

Doesn't look like the DVD will be in widescreen though.

I think レックウザ (Rekkuuza) is based off of a Chinese word, but that's just a wild guess out in the open.

Just curious, but what did Kaba-chan say in the original version?
