Thread: BW 094 "Seigaiha Gym Battle! Mantain VS Daikenki!!"

I totally agree with what Dogasu already said - I felt like Satoshi and Kotetsu's bonding time dragged on for longer than necessary, and this could have been saved for its own episode. I was expecting the battle to be like 2 seconds at the rate their time in the cave was carrying on, but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Daikenki was really bad ass animated :D It's been a long time since I saw a Pokemon in the anime and liked it more because of it. I always found Daikenki to be kinda derpy, but he was animated really nicely~ Battle was fairly decent, despite being...what...less than half of the episode?

After seeing Roxie , I expected more from Shizui !
Now , Ether Roxie is a Mega Powered Gym Leader Or Kotesu is just too strong despite his appearance!
Well , There goes the only episode I wanted to see !

This was a decent episode. I like the bonding with Ash and Kotetsu. It was a nice change of pace then other episodes that introduce new charters. I don't care that Ash can't cook for himself. It is just something that I don't care about and it not apart of the plot. The gym battle on the other hand was really boring and didn't give Marorn any intressing traits like the other gym before him. I said that Roxie had more charter then him. The one thing that save the gym battle was Samurott. As one person say about this, "OH MY GOD THIS IS THE GREAT DEBUT EVER!" I love Samurott and it was awesome to see him. All his attacks were so awesome, Hydro Cannon awesome, Aqua Jet awesome, Razor Shell awesome as pie itself XD! So I give this episode a 4.5/5.

Uhhhmmm how are you meant to establish a character without bonding, plus the bonding bit was the best part of the episode.

I am not impressed. Sure, Samurott gets to look good, but...ugh. TR, save me.

Man, I was hoping ever since we found out Marlon would be in the show that Wailord would be used in the battle, simply because I'd love to see such a giant Pokemon actually fight for once.

Thunderbolt on a Ferrothorn? Couldn't they have just used Power Whip...

Apart from that the episode was okay, I guess. Bit dissapointed to see Jellicent fall so easily and the Mantine vs Samurott battle was too rushed for my taste...

Just saying , Shizui probably is the weakest 8th Gym Leader yet ! (Beside Giovanni)

That's true, the gym battle was quite generic and it went way to fast, but i think we should remember this battle was for a rival character, not ash himself.

Hey , I was Surprise to see that Kotesu is Mature enough to teach Ferrothorn Thunderbolt !
Even Ash hardly try to teach his Pokemon any new move unless someone advise him to teach a sudden attack.
Which really piss me off !
I wish Cynthia beat Ash in Battle to teach him that he must learn more about his Pokemon & try to teach them some new move/trick .

Just Interesting move doesn't have anything to do with being Mature
But Teaching a Pokemon a interesting move has everything to do with being Mature.
For example , Ash can teach Snivy to use Iron Tail instate of Leaf Blade .
Plus , He can teach Snivy Aqua tail to deal with Fire Type .
PS : Thunderbolt took down Jelicent .

I too felt a bit underwhelmed by the attacks given to Kotetsu and Marlon's pokemon, we could have saw Power Whip, Water Spout, Iron Head, Gyro Ball, Arrgh. Mantine and Samurott did have somwhat intresting movesets, however

This episode was just as I've feared: Half the episode was Ash and Kotetsu flailing around lost in a forest, the other half is mostly a rushed battle. Like others had said, the Ash-Kotetsu bonding should've been an episode all itself, rather than shoe-horned into a gym episode (or is the gym battle shoe-horned into a bonding episode? :V). Poor Marlon's debut didn't do him justice (screentime-wise), and this is probably his only appearance, which is very disappointing (to me at least).
