Satoshi joins Kotetsu as he travels to Seigaiha City to battle its Gym Leader and earn his eighth badge. Can Kotetsu beat the Water-Type Gym Leader Shizui?

Samurott looks really awesom! He is fast, moves amazing! High level! I like it!

The battle overall was oKay! They could make it beter! ANd more intens! But really impressed by Samurott!

I couldn't help but notice a rather familiar tune being hummed towards the beginning of the episode.

Had a feeling that Kotetsu would replace Hikari in the opening.

First half of the episode was extremely boring, Kotetsu was just unentertaining. Battle was rushed and also boring. Daikenki looked good, but not being a Daikenki fanboy, I pretty much didn't really care.

Urgh... let's hope he goes out early come League time.

I appreciated what they were trying to do with the first half of the episode - showing Satoshi and Kotetsu bonding and all - but they really shouldn't have tried to shoehorn that into a Gym Leader episode. I would have preferred if they had the "Satoshi and Kotetsu become friends" thing be its own episode and then have the entire next episode devoted to the battle against Shizui.

The thing that stoodout the most was the music, such a big change and i loved it <33333333 and the battle was quite epic to :)

I was really impressed by Samurott. Far more versatile in battle than it looks from the design. Too bad Ash won't ever have one. The battle itself was too short, I really liked the tactics - Cursed Body is a great use of abilities in battle, but it just all was far too short and both Pokemon of his fell too easily. It's the inverse of my complaint about Roxie - here the Gym leader who is supposed to be one of the strongest in the games is way too weak. Having a very powerful water Gym leader would have been good to see, but instead we get a rushed battle with Pokemon falling too quickly - that Samurott vs Mantine battle could have been brilliant if it had more time.

The battle also failed at the crucial part - making Kotetsu seem a strong and genuine challenger for Ash at the league. They've done that well with Stephan and Bianca, they kinda managed it with Trip, but haven't gotten close with Kotetsu and I can't imagine there being many more episodes with which to do so before the league.

As for the rest of the episode, I've complained a lot in the past about how Ash after all this time still is incapable of looking after his Pokemon and this episode proves that yet again. He should be able to cook and he should always spend the few seconds checking for basic supplies to put in his bag rather than being totally dependent on others - I'd like to see an episode where Ash being useless like that actually has consequences, where there isn't a convenient red fruit tree to bail him out. That's what he should be called a kid for - not walking off in a different direction.

But ignoring that, I liked the Kotetsu and Ash part of this episode, it's got a different feel to it that seems far more natural to Ash than a lot of BW has been like. Considering when the daylight appeared it looked like that cliff face was just a minor fall, why not let both of them fall off the cliff, cut to a commercial, come back and have them land a few metres down?

I'm kinda surprised how this episode shows that Ash is just too dumb to be alive, if he somewhat ends up traveling by himself... on the other hand, having Ash & Kotetsu tagging alone just make Ash start to understand how Iris and Cilan fell about him (Kotetsu is WAY too dumb to be alive). I feel sorry for that riolu, it is already an exemple of patience. -_-
