It reminds me a lot of that Paras back in Kanto.

Iris explains the origin of Kibago, a pokemon who hatched only a day earlier and was given to her by a respected elder of her village (Souryuu City). In the anime, Souryuu City is more old-fashioned, similar to how it looks in White (where Iris is the gym leader).
They don't actually identify Iris' hometown as Souryuu City, if I remember correctly. Iris just refers to it as her furusato, or "hometown."

Being a Gym Leader of a city doesn't necessarily mean that you were born and raised there. I would assume that Iris' hometown, at least as far as the TV series is concerned, is somewhere near Kanoko Town.

The end of the episode was very "interesting." Iris refused to battle Ash and Pikachu so the two fight against each other. Nobody finds this weird... at all?
Obviously Dent and Iris found it weird, given their reactions.

Dento actually...battles? Wow, they really are trying to differentiate him from Brock.

Misty and Brock NEVER battled each other. Nice to see Iris and Dento battle. I also liked Dento helping Ash out at the end.

Much needed Iris development ep, very good. Once again I'm convinced this is TR's last arc, the fact that they only get 2-3 minutes of screentime per episode now is pretty obvious.

So does anyone think the map of the land region Isshu is part of can be take seriously? I mean if it can, doesn't that mean in a way that we got a shitload of uneventful regions coming up? Anyway,I love how random Kibago can be, and the mischief he gets into. Doryzuu for Iris was unexpected, but hey, its a great Pokemon, so its all good. Loving how comedic the series got, I'm finally laughing with it.

Iris' game hometown is actually a small village, not Souryuu City. So most likely THAT isn't souryuu city either.

HAHA This episode was funny, the ending was very LOL My favorite part. Iris will hopefully accept a battle with Ash some time soon, poor guy. The start of the episode was weird, they were all sitting in a tree of some sort, but I like that there adding that kind of stuff in the show, they've never done that kind of thing before. I loved Ash's expression when Iris Kibago sent out an attack that got himXD Over all fun episode, like I've said before I'm really liking this trios interactions better than the previous two. I like that Iris got background tolled, she now has no right for making fun of Ash bahaha.

Y'know, the way Doryuzuu behaved there, what with his podlike stance when resting, you have to wonder if the designers of the generation V made him as what Diglett or Dugtrio would out of the ground. Considering that only Diglett's head pokes out the ground, and what with Dory's claws making that shell over his head, it could seem possible.

That Iris' one was a Molezard changes nowt, but one must wonder the guy's background story.

Ahh, this episode was even more amazing than the previous - it was a lot more amazing than the previews made it look. Iris was extra adorable, as was Kibago (especially when he brought Iris some fruit!). Nice to know Kibago actually has a strong move in its arsenal, he'll be devastating once trained some more. Iris' background story was short but sweet, that and unique. I'm very very happy with how they handled her here. <3 Doryuuzu is amazing, too.

My fangirl senses activated when Dento bowed to Iris during their battle in the beginning, lol. Him and Satoshi were great here, too! Love how Satoshi was so anxious to battle that he took Iris' "advice" on battling against Pikachu himself.

I just hope the writers don't have Kibago turn into Fukamaru 2.0 and spend episode after episode "training" to master its powerful dragon-type move.

Well i hope not... But the fact that were given a bit of the history of the Pokemon Universe (aka comet crashing into the large continent, thus splitting it up into at least Four major land masses) is exciting. They may be setting up for something bigger than just the leagues and gym battles. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Loving how comedic the series got, I'm finally laughing with it.
Haha agreed! I actually laugh out loud in this season of pokemon, i hope we can continue that.

From what I can gather, seems lots of people missed out on this thanks to the horrors of daylight savings, myself included. Shame, I was quite looking forward to this one.

Aww, that Pendra is such a silly. He thinks he's a horse. I thought it was particulary funny when he unintenionally kicked the folded-up (if you can call it that) Doryuzu, causing it to bounce towards a shocked Ash and Dent.
Though Doryuzu in general seemed pretty entertaining here, as tends to be the case for the disobeyers. As I said, I've only got the pics to go by, but Iris reaction after watching the mole launch bughorse into the stratosphere made it look like she was appologising for the overkill. I rather hope that was the case. :P

I was wondering about the split of land masses as well. I wonder what the meteorite in the Resort Desert has to do with Team Rocket though. Also finally an episode without Mijumaru!

Nah, Kibago is much weaker. Togepi could actually do something about oncoming attacks (Metronome), and was less of a crybaby (hey, it took a shot from that evil guy in those Togepi castle episodes in AG without crying, while Kibago can barely take a weakened Bullet Seed, one at a time). As for Doryuzu, I do hope this disobedience continues, so Iris can learn not to jump down other people's throats for their mistakes, as this whole "child" criticism toward Ash has to stop (we had enough of that from Misty, and we don't need another Misty). My only complaint is that I wish Ash could have Doryuzu instead of Iris (IMO, that would be wicked awesome). But, nonetheless, a good episode with some good laughs.

"Out of Control Pendra! Rescue Kibago!"
This episode was good. Iris constantly calling Ash/Satoshi a child is leading me to believe she may be 12 like Misty/Kasumi. The cold opening leads us to believe Kibago is strong but, did the writers pull the rug from under us. Yannappu spiting seeds at Kibago, and Iris running toward it like a concerned mother was a nice cute scene. I can't help but think how freaking uncomfortable it must be for Dent to do all that action stuff in that suit. The music that played when Kibago went in for a scratch was nice. Getting a little backstory on Kibago was nice since we rarely do for some pokemon.

Pikachu bowing like hell in order to apologize to Pendra that's new since when was "bowing" allowed in a show supposedly for international audiences, none the less it was nice seeing something even a little Japanese from this show.

Now this episode demonstrate somethings I like about Iris. She isn't a damsel in distress like May/Hikari, Dawn/Hikari, and to an extent Kasumi/Misty she takes things into her own hands and gets physical, not having to rely on her pokemon all the time, She reminds me of trainers in Pokemon Special.

Wish I could say something about the mole but, I can't it's disobiedient, took out Pendra, and went back in it's poke ball. Iris saying she was sorry to Pendra was nice and cute because it wasn't Pendra's fault.

Ash an Pikachu's battle was amusing. Satoshi/Ash runs on electricity doesn't he?
