BW 007 Tsutarja - Attracted by Capture!?
The trio of Satoshi, Iris, and Dent are resting in a forest one day when the "grass snake" pokemon Tsutarja appears. The pokemon starts eating the cakes Dent had made, and when Pikachu tries to stop it, its eyes suddenly become hearts! It seems like Pikachu is being affected by Tsutarja's "Attract!" Tsutarja tries to make a run for it, but it doesn't count on Satoshi being so fired up that he starts to chase after it! Can Satoshi get Tsutarja!?

- Since Tsutarja’s Attract affected Pikachu (who was confirmed to be male in DP), then the Tsutarja must be female.
- Mijumaru (surprisingly) was affected by the Tsutarja’s Attract as well so it must be male.
- Also, as we have seen in the previews, Pokabu was affected too.
- Mamepato is a girl (as the Attract did absolutely nothing to her).

Jessie also tried to catch the Tsutarja when it escaped from Ash and co. the first time. It failed, however, since the Tsutarja gracefully dodged her Poke Ball in midair.

It’s as if the writers wanted to redeem Mamepato from its lack of screentime in the past few episodes. Mamepato battled the Tsutarja into weariness, Ash throws a Pokeball. It does not work the first time, but Mamepato beats her down with Air Cutter. Ash tries a second time (third overall) and ends up catching the female Tsutarja.

When Ash sends out the Tsutarja after catching it, the Tsutarja only pulls off a forced smile.

The eyecatches change in this episode to include Iris and Dent.

Just watched it. Ash did get Tsutarja, in the end though it took him a while.
We also found out genders of each of the pokemon. Pokabu, Mijumaru, Pikachu (duh!) are all male, and the only female pokemon able to battle Tsutarja for catching was Mamepato, which unfortunately prevents Mamepato evolving into the, personally, better form. Anyway, here's a few notes:

- Ash is hungry so Iris rushes off to get berries. Ash and Iris seem content with this but Dento doesn't. So he starts cooking some, cakey things and apparently Ash and Iris act like they're the best thing they've ever tasted (:/)
- Tsutarja reminds me of Paul, anyone?
- Jessie wanted Tsutarja and Meowth tried to help by attacking (they need more pokemon, I think).
- Mijumaru is a popper. That was kind of obvious, but I have a feeling he's going to be in a lot of the episodes to come.

Apparently Tsutaja didn't trust humans and it was shocked to see Ash protect Pika
I like that Jessie at least tried to catch the snake of this gen... but as we knew, Ash got it...
Ash's team is all males except Tsuta and Mame
And yes, they clearly said Tsuta and Mame are females
LOL Dento thought Ash knew Mame is female and sent it cause of that, but then Ash was like "oh, it's a female? didn't know that" XD
Also earlier in the ep when Iris brought berries, then Dento made from them cakes, she said something like "maybe it wasn't a bad idea to travel together after all" cause up to now she just ate berries all the time XD

EDIT: oh yeah, IN YOUR FACE, everyone who thought Miju was a female despite how it was extremely obvious it's a male...

I can't believe people really thought Ash wasn't going to get Tsutarja, the signs were so obvious.

The parallels between Isshu and Kanto are uncanny.

This was the best capture episode of Ash's Isshu starters, Mijumaru's was half filler and Pokabu's was a rehash.

I totally wasn't expecting Jessie to try to capture it, that definitely would have been interesting if she did, though.

So it looks like all the genders of Ash's team are confirmed now, it was good to finally see Mamepato get some spotlight, it needed it.

This was a pretty good episode, the best one I've seen so far, I enjoyed it a lot.

Aww man, Mamepato is female? I must say, that royally sucks. Like their real life counterpart, female Kenhorou are really bland looking birds.

Mijumaru being male isn't a surprise at all imo. Just like with Gliscor, what everyone was seeing as feminine, I just saw as it being a big kid that wanted attention. *shrug*

Boring Rocket trio, bla bla bla. They did allude to there being another group in the Isshu region that even the Rocket-Dan has no information about, so it looks like the Plasma-Dan foreshadowing has begun.

Also, both Iris and Dent comment on how the Tsutarja doesn't behave like a normal wild pokemon, leading them to believe that it had a trainer at one point but was released back into the wild. Of course, they have no way of confirming this.

Also...I'm getting kind of sick of Mijumaru, to be honest.

This. It popping out of it's pokeball and basically saying 'leave this to me' and ending up failing is probably going to become a regular theme and it's really not funny.

I expected more from this episode, but at least the genders were confirmed. I don't get why some fans get so serious over them.

Oh, and the eyecatches look good with Iris and Dento now.

What the hell was female-ish about Miju? just because it liked Ash? just because it was cute and wanted a trainer to pick it up? I saw nothing girly about that
Miju always seemd to me like a cute male that just wanted a trainer to love it... a coward guy that acts tough and cool but when it's scared it runs away and needs his loving trainer to give it a confidence boost to uses its real powers... I see nothing girly about it... at all
Usually, when the writers want us to know a Poké is a female, it'll act in a very obviously girly way or just clearly stated to be female (Buneary, Aipom, now Tsutaja...)
For me, everyone is 99% male until proved they're female... it's just easier for some reason to see the "unknown" as male rather than female... maybe I'm affected by the fact Hebrew doesn't have "it", only "he" or "she" and so most of the Poké are usually refered to as "he"... I don't know
Anyway, it was just obvious to me that Miju is male... I could never imagine this Mijumaru being a female, it had zero girliness

Oh, and the eyecatches look good with Iris and Dento now.
