So basically, aside from meeting treasure hunters aboard a ship, this episode is useful for two things:

    - A gateway to the Pokémon League.
    - The start of the final ten episodes of Diamond & Pearl series.

We also arrive at Island of Conflicting Names in this episode.

They changed the name? That's odd. The original was fine...
Can't believe this is the 10th-to-last episode. Wow...

Again, "Dandelion Island" is NOT Suzuran Island or the location of the Sinnoh League. Dandelion Island is the place where Ash and co. are going to search for treasure alongside Buck.

Suzuran Island is still referred to "Lily of the Valley Island" at the beginning of the episode, and the island where Buck points to at the map (with the treasure) is called Dandelion Island.

There is no conflict in naming here.

Brock mentions that Fighting-Type moves are super-effective against Rock-Types. While that is true, wouldn't Torterra [Grass and Ground] Buizel, or Infernape been much better options? Admittely, I liked seeing Gible, but it's dub voice is very grating...

Off topic, but this is another episode where the dubbers when crazy with the dub music. I counted 2 or 3 pieces of Background music, tops, from the Japanese version.

Yay for Stark Mountain, who will never receive an anime appearence in all its glory :(

So Dandelion Island was not the name. Pokémon.com really got me there, no doubt.

This was a great gateway episode. Buck and Marley are tied for being my favorite stat trainers.

OH Piplup and Gible's Conflict never gets old. I found hilarious when TR thought the Pokemon were a welcoming party.

    All in All, Grrrrrrrrrrreat Episode.
The wind howls...The rain pours...A figure appears in the darkness...The Minryu approaches..............

It's actually the first time we see the conflict in a few episodes. I think the last time was in Dealing with a Fierce Double Ditto Drama! the last time we've seen Gible was in Opposites Interact!, I believe. We only need four episodes for that to end.

I can't believe that the twerps didn't consider a bunch of old pots to be a treasure. Come on guys, think like Buck!

Buck wants to become an archaeology professor? With that hype, he'll be the best professor ever. I'd want him to teach me.

Also, when Jessie/James/Meowth were in the cave, there was this short cue playing when we saw them. Which I think is from the Japanese version. Although it might count as a SFX instead. They even replaced As Long As I Can Hold My Breath from movie 9. Also the Pokedex theme was dub-added [when Dawn is looking up Claydol]

What's so ironic about this is that today is Robert Louis Stevenson's birthday.

That's ironic, seeing how he wrote poems such as Treasure Island.

Just a reminder that any music discussion is to be kept to this thread.

This episode wasn't as exciting as I'd like to to be. I mean, I would think that any relative of Flint would be a bit more...exciting XD. I dunno, maybe I'm expecting too much.

Piplup and Gible scene was humorous enough though. I lol'd when Pip patted Gib on the head XD

The kid wants to be a professor of Archeology, but he doesn't go to school...best of luck, Buck!

This episode gave me the impression the writers said, "Uh-oh, we forgot to give an episode to Buck!" so they rushed this in as the last filler of DP.

The placement of this ep is wrong. Its the last, "Sinnoh adventure" the group goes on, but its place right after all the big events like the GF and 8th Gym, and before the league stuff.

True, they could have put this episode instead of For the Love of Meowth! or Try for the Family Stone!. However, I think the writers put this right before the League in order to give a "treasure" or "best wishes" to Ash at the last minute.
