Anime with a cast full of pretty boys =/= homosexual anime

It's probably going to be a rant with no effect, but I'm going to say it anyways.
I've noticed this for quite some time, but this became rather prominent recently with the anime Free!. And not only Free!, but a lot of other shounen anime, mostly sports anime, are getting similar treatments.
An anime with a cast full of pretty boys DOES NOT mean it's a yaoi anime. Just where are they getting these ideas? Since when did 'pretty boys=gays' became a popular definition?
Unless it is OFFICIALLLY STATED as a yaoi/shounen-ai anime, it's pretty much wrong going around and saying 'gay anime', 'it looks homoerotic', 'does it have sexual scenes'.
I can't help but think those people had never even watched an actual yaoi anime with homosexual scenes. Seriously, there's an obvious difference between anime that simply has a lot of pretty boys, and anime that is actually yaoi. The way they're grouping all anime with pretty boys in the wrong criteria is making a whole bunch of misunderstanding.
If you don't know what a yaoi anime is, it's a genre about 'romance between guys'. So unless there's a separate storyline (like Togainu no Chi, but this is a rare case), yaoi anime are about romance. Falling in love, developing crushes, getting conflicted over possible other love interests, misunderstanding, talking it over, dating, kissing, having sex (this is mostly optional). It depicts your usual everyday romance drama. If you still don't know what it's like, then watch Junjou Romantica, or Sekaiichi Hatsukoi - those are popular yaoi anime and pretty much the definition as well.
Now back to anime that simply has a cast full of pretty boys...
Free! for one thing, is a SPORTS anime about a swim club, as well a slice-of-life, coming-of-age story of high school boys. They're just being friendly and encourage each other, get worked up over a rivalry, and try to do their best to improve their swimming skills. As for appearing without shirts half the time? It's a SWIMMING ANIME - are people expecting swimmers to swim fully clothed or what? I watched all the episodes up till now, and there was nothing yaoi about the show. Where the f*** people are getting all those fake info saying Free! has gay scenes?
I understand the fandom is mostly responsible for this, but anyone can see that the fandom is just shipping whoever they want to ship. You don't call Pokemon a yaoi anime just because a bunch of people are shipping Ash with Cilan or whoever. Same thing. Asking the fans for information regarding a certain anime is fine, but just don't trust everything they say because even exaggeration tends to go overboard - It's plain enough to see that trusting everything the fandom says 100% isn't all that reliable.
As for the reason behind pretty boys - it's plain obvious the target audience are females, not males. HOWEVER, again, just because the show is targeted towards women, it doesn't mean it's always yaoi. And about the friendly friendship between the guys? What, do you expect people to enjoy anime with violence and hatred?
So know the difference, and quit calling non-yaoi anime as 'gay anime'.
