So if the original dragon were a real pokémon in the games...

As in, I'm thinking about it as another pokémon, besides a deity. The same way Arceus is a pokémon, you know?

I figured there's enough material to imagine how it was, given it used to exist.
This isn't speculation nor anything, just fan thoughts. I guess you could see it as theoryzing this pokémon through a different method, but really it's no different than just writing up a fake pokémon. Just based on a concept that has already been thrown in.

For all intents and purposes, it can be assumed to be something that had both characteristics of Reshiram and Zekrom, and at least had parallels to those of Kyurem's that don't define the later (i.e. not Ice)
So:

First of all, it obviosuly would've been a Dragon type. However, I'm saying it was a pure Dragon type. The secondary type of Reshiram and Zekrom, shows a sense of individuality each developed, so it makes sense they earned that after separating.

HP: 105
Attack: 145
Defense: 115
Sp.Atk: 145
Sp.Def: 115
Speed: 95
Total: 720
You'll notice I've chipped away attack and defense. Besides simply merging Zekrom's and Reshiram's stats, the later two again would specialize in them and have them more pronounciated. On the other hand, this dragon would've had a bit more relation to Kyurem for perfomance, hence the small improvement in health and speed.
720 BST because that's Arceus' total, and seems fitting to have such.

Its moveset would've been surprisingly swallow. It would've had mostly Dragon moves, along some unique other ones possibly from Reshiram and Zekrom's common movepool. (Conveniently, this balances it a bit)
Its signature moves... I'd like the idea of something that increased in power through consecutive uses, like Fury Cutter, as replacement for Fusion Volt/Flare. And then something that made use of how its physical and special sides are the same-- perhaps a dragon psystryke that worked BOTH ways deppending on something. It'd be like Judgment in that sense, but with move category instead of type.

Competitively speaking, the thing would've been a relatively predictable but dangerous mixed tank. Or Kyurem on steroids. That would eclipse many pokémon in raw power, but at the expense of variety.

Its physical appearance would've been easilly enough a merge of Zekrom and Reshiram. This can be two things: Either the characteristics that Kyurem attains when merging with them being the defining characteristics of this pokémon, or the characteristics that Kyurem DOESN'T get (face, etc) being the base for this pokémon, while it had its unique defining characteristics.
On that note, rather than gray, it would've been strictly and separately black and white, as that would represent the Yin Yang in itself better.
But on the general, a dragon that was both reptilian but feathery seems like a right image.

As for its lore, and general role... Reshiram and Zekrom separated, because truth and ideals drifted away and confronted each other. That means this pokémon originally saw truth and ideals as something that was one and the same... In particular, there's one thing N says, about making dreams the truth.
So perhaps that is what this pokémon, who represented both things, thought: to expose the true dream, and to make these dreams true. And it seems it took long to reach a point where such a thing really conflicted. (Perhaps an impossible dream?)

It probably had something to do with balance and harmony between the extremes, encompassing all within them as it'd represent Taiji.

... so yeah uh nevermind this. It is just a poorly thought out and TERRIBLE wall of text that's ultimately pointless too, but...

I fear it'll still end up in Uber despite the shallow movepool, which means I won't be able to use it.

@Ghetsis-Dennis; I wasn't really thinking about tiers at all, but of course it would be an uber. It is supposed to be an insanely high-end legendary.

What I was more concerned about is it eclipsing other comparable pokémon (particularly Reshiram and Zekrom themselves), which is why its movepool would have to be shallower so it doesn't become overpowered even among the overpowered ones.
I figure that would be another way to reward a more strategic gameplay too, as this pokemon is supposed to be devastating when sent out at the right time, but easilly crippled by tricky thinking.

Personally, I think its stat distribution will be this:

    HP: 125
    Atk: 150
    Def: 100
    SAtk: 150
    SDef: 100
    Spd: 95

Basically a fusion of all their stats. I took the Reshiram and Zekrom's offenses, and I took Kyurem's highest stats that the other two didn't beat (HP and Speed). It's defenses wound up being taken from Reshiram/Zekrom's weaker defense, but I think with Kyurem's better HP, it winds up being defensively better.
