  1. Monotype Teams Improvements 2

    We shall cover five more types in this short series. As you know, new Pokemon are introduced, so that means changes to the dynamics of a monotype team, mainly for the better. It's important to remember that monotype teams only have one type shared among every member, so they could have the same weaknesses, unless you have a dual-type that neutralises that weakness.   2. Names that Took Advantage of the Extended Character Limit

    In past Generations, names of Pokemon, Moves and Abilities are limited to a certain character limit. For most languages, that limit was 10 characters for Pokemon, and 12 characters for Moves and Abilities. Note that the Japanese have a lower limit, since they don't need to use as many characters. With the games allowing for more memory, character limits are extended. So with that, let's see what names took advantage of the extended limit in four languages: English, French, German and Japanese. ...

  3. Monotype Teams Improvements

    With the new Pokemon being introduced, as well as having some old favourites having some improvements, I shall predict some changes for monotype teams. The basic rule for a monotype team is that their teams can only have one type shared among every member, whether it's a mono-type or a dual-type. We have new Pokemon of every type, as well as old Pokemon who receive new boosts. It's probably not perfect, so if I missed out on some cool things each type gets, please point them out!

  4. Final Tier Differences between PO and Smogon (before Gen 6)

    It turns out that the final tier shift for PO was on August, meaning nobody's doing tier shifts anymore. That means, we have ourselves the finalised tiers in Generation 5. If you are interested in the online competitive battling scene, there is a chart below that will highlight the differences between, as well as my thoughts on the stark differences. Note that there are certain suspect tests going on, so it's not exactly finalised. Still, the changes won't be as big, so it's no big.

  5. Tier Differences between Pokémon Online and Smogon

    It's July now, so that means tier changes for both Pokemon Online and Smogon are in effect. Basically, the trend is that Pokemon Online have tier changes every two months, while Smogon get theirs every three months. Their meeting point is June, so I decided to compare the changes now. Before that, let's see what changes they have recently:
