In the wake of all these terrorist attacks, I feel the need to say this.

Islamophobia is poisoning our societies. The terrorists have made an entire religion of 1.5 billion people look bad. I feel bad for all the Muslims who don't support the terrorists, because they basically hijacked their beliefs and used them to spread hate.

Europe is where it is the worst. I hear stories of people in Europe making anti-Muslim documentaries and excessive focus on honor killings. Yes, honor killings are disgusting and backwards, but most Muslims don't support them. I do not like what people like Geert Wilders have to say about Muslims. And a lot of it is tied to immigration as well.

It's pretty bad in Russia too. Now that a lot of the Jews have moved to Israel, the Muslims are now the main target. Russia has a gross neo-Nazi following, and they target Muslims - especially ones from Central Asia, who they hate even more than the native Turkic and Caucasian Muslims. It could also have to do with the fact that a lot of these people are darker than typical Russians (people in the Cacucasus are known as black in Russia since most of them have dark hair), and the Russian neo-Nazis hate the mostly non-Muslim Armenians for this as well.

Lest non-Western countries be free from this, think again. We all know how bad Israel is. Their leaders hate the Palestinians just as much as the Arab governments hate the Jews. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. India is also pretty bad. There was a mosque blown up in Ayodhya about 20 years ago, and there's still bickering over it. A lot of the more nationalistic Hindus and Sikhs are still bitter about the Mughal persecutions of non-Muslims. But two wrongs don't make a right. (Which is the same for the Chechen terrorists. Just because Russia persecuted your people for centuries, doesn't mean you can go bombing them.)

And of course we have America. I've heard anti-Muslim attitudes come from all sorts of people in this country. The biggest hate seems to be from fundamentalist Christians. Westboro Baptist releases anti-Muslim statements all the time. Bloggers like Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer, and Debbie Schlussel also contribute to it. (The last one also hates Polish people a lot based on exaggerated accounts of Polish Nazi collaborators.)

Muslims have been perssecuted in history. Russia was historically one of the biggest persecutors of Muslims, especially during the days of the Russian Empire where it came very close to the persecution of Jews. Ivan the Terrible fought endlessly against the Tatars, who speak a language similar to Turkish. Take a guess what he did after he conquered their lands. There was a massive genocide of people in Circassia (which is near Chechnya) around the time of the US Civil War. And this genocide is largely forgotten, since no one is alive to remember it. The Soviet Union continued the mistreatment, though they did it with everyone else too. China has also done its fair share - especially towards the Muslims in Xinjiang. Not to mention the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition, which were even worse...

But like I said, it's wrong to get revenge for persecution of your people. You don't see Israelis trying to attack Germany or countries that collaborated with Germany like Croatia and Romania. Nor do you see Native Americans trying to attack our government.

We really need to stop this nonsense. We need to try to get along with Muslims as a whole. We should differentiate average Muslims from Islamists. And if we keep hating them, it will only make the Islamists even worse. So all of us, Muslim and non-Muslim, should unite to oppose the terrorists.

Not all Muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslim. Just like the whole square-rectangle thing.

I want to say that the hatred coming from Americans scare me alot. They had a article about the Boston suspects parents and how the mom was saying that America took her kids away. I looked at the comment section and just pure hate...

I mean how would you feel if these were your kids? Why are Americans so hateful? And this is coming from someone who is American.

It doesn't matter if someone is Muslim, Caucasian, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Libyan, Egyptian, American, or any ethnicity.

To judge an entire religion and a code of ethics, as well as Muslims and their beliefs like Islam on the sole basis of "a-duh, they're all terrorists! 1111!!!!" is not only ignorant of other cultures, but only serves as a perfect example of racism in society that is still very much sadly present across the globe.

To judge Islam and Muslims that believe in it as all being terrorists, people of color in the same vein regardless of whether they are Muslim or not in the same vein, is no different than judging all Germans as being like Nazi Germany and how Adolf Hitler acted. Yet that isn't true, is it? Talk about a double standard.

Sadly some radical idiots who believe they are truly following Allah and Islam, make the whole faith look bad and give Americans a terrible prejudice against them.

Granted I'm obviously not happy with certain radical evil individuals that are followers of Islam, willing to not only kill millions for their "self-righteous" causes as they seem to think, but to stereotype against all followers of Islam because of it is just not right.

I am not Muslim or a follower of Islam: I am an American of foreign ancestry, but I do feel to judge all followers of Islam like this because of recent events like 9/11 and the Boston Bombings is not fair and only shows the need to eliminate only the radical sects of religious followers, not the majority who are peaceful and devout followers of God.

This really isn't an appropriate comment.

No offense, but the Qua'ran does kind of tell them to do the things they are doing.

Quran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority."

Quran (4:95) - "Not equal are those believers who sit and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit . Unto all Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit by a special reward,-"

And yet most muslims aren't terrorists. Because it's kinda stupid to run around trying to blow people up and most muslims think that's wrong. Exactly which translation of the Qua'ran are you using?

Like with the bible, religious texts shouldn't be taken literally, especially not after translation as there can easily be misinformation or misunderstandings.

I think that I recently heard something that went like this:

"The majority of everyday Muslims view the radical terrorists in the same way that the majority of everyday Christians view the Westboro Baptist Church."

Something to think about. How would people in a nation that is mostly Christian like to be considered all on the same level as Westboro Baptist Church?

Have you looked at the Bible lately? You can find passages just as bad in there. At the same time, you would have a hard time finding any decent person who has actually stoned someone in their lifetime.

In the name of not starting a big debate/argument that really doesn't belong in the blogs, I'm only just going to say that not every crime committed in the name of other religions is branded as a "terrorist act." If every "hate crime" committed in the name of other religions by fringe radicals were to be classified as "terrorist acts," these numbers would be a lot different. Give that some thought.

Full disclosure: I am not very religious. I am not defending anyone who uses their religion as a reason to harm anyone, whether it be physically, mentally, or verbally. I don't care what religion someone follows as long as they respect everyone else in the world who is trying to just enjoy their lives.

The Qua'ran does indeed suggest violent methods in various passages, I don't think there's any vagueness to the translations.

The problem lies in the fact that it's ridiculous to fault an entire Religion for that reason when the violent passages were simply a result of the time it was written in where using power to gain territory and followers was necessary for survival in a primarily nomadic culture. And I believe that an earlier passage states “Fight for the sake of God those that fight against you, but do not attack them first. God does not love agressors” (2:194-5), which implies that the latter passages are more so implied to be utilized when retaliating. Muhammad also I believe prohibited the killing of women, children, and civilians.

The large majority of Muslims, like the large majority of Christians, ignore the violent passages and focus on all the positive passages that advocate peace and charity.

Why does everyone assume I'm a christian and start insulting Christianity when I say these things? lol

I am not a Christian or Muslim, fyi, in fact, I find religion in general to be unhelpful and regressive.

I don't know why I commented in this blog, I knew all I would do is offend people. I mean no offense, just my own opinion, everyone is entitled to their own. If you want to worship Allah, then you go right ahead. Don't listen to me, who am I to tell you how you should live your life?
