CURSE YOU MLP AND ONCE UPON A TIME, CURSE YOU!

Okay, so today, I watched the season finales of two of my favorite shows, My Little Pony and Once Upon A Time.

BOTH ENDINGS SUCKED.

So let's start off with the better one, shall we? In Once Upon A Time, August became a puppet again, Henry "died", and Emma had FINALLY begun to realize that the town was under a curse. Then she breaks the curse by reviving her son, Henry, all Snow White style with a forehead kiss and suddenly the curse is broken (only they're not in the fairytale world). But you'd think that they would be fine after that, right? WRONG. My favorite character, Rumpelstiltskin, just had to fuck it all up. Yes, the character whom I had loved and hated so much at the same time had made me hate him just a bit more than I love him. He just HAD to do put the town under what I supposed is ANOTHER curse! I just... just... UGH! THAT'S IT! I FREAKING HATE HIM! (Well at least I can get a second season...)

Now on to My Little Pony. This was possibly the worst Season Finale I had ever seen in my entire life. There was no uniquely designed badass enemy like Nightmare Moon, Discord, and Queen Chrysalis. In fact, there really was no enemy at all! I didn't find any suspense or interest because the answer to every problem was painfully OBVIOUS. So far with every finale minus this one, there has always been a way to save the day by thinking outside of the box. NOPE! NOT THIS TIME! Seriously, I knew from the beginning that Twilight would just use friendship and magic to fix everything. No, I did not look up any information about the episode so that I would know what was going to happen. What's even worse? They made her a PRINCESS. A MOTHERFUCKING PRINCESS. I knew about this beforehand, and I thought that I could accept it. But now, it just doesn't work! Everyone knows how stressed Twilight gets when things don't go according to plan and she starts freaking out (Example: Lesson Zero). Imagine what would happen if something didn't go right in Equestria while she's in power, she'd destroy the entire country out of panic!

But the thing that bothers me the most is what they're teaching the younger girls and not the Bronies. They're pulling off a 90's Disney thing where everyone's a princess. Why does EVERY role-model have to be a princess? Why can't we give them a role-model who's a scholar like Twilight, or an Animal care-taker like Fluttershy? Even though it's a fantasy show with multicolored talking horses, we still need SOME realism! Not every girl in the world can be royalty, but they can be like the Mane Six (minus the New Twilight) who don't have to run a country, but have unique jobs and are happy with those jobs.

Why do my fandoms have to disappoint me...

You do know the MLP season 3 finale is the first episode of a three part trilogy that stretches into season 4 right?

I didn't care for the Pony ep, which was made all the worse because it was padded out with generic songs.

But to say that her being a princess is a bad thing because she can't be a role model is just silly. People can see her as a role model before she transformed, and they can see her after. She's the same character, just with wings, a lot more responsibility and more lessons to learn. And yes, she isn't always the best under pressure, but she usually finds a way. And she still has a lot to learn.

Being a princess doesn't automatically invalidate all she's done in the past

But the thing that bothers me the most is what they're teaching the younger girls and not the Bronies.
When a show goes beyond a target demographic, that's great. Does it have an obligation to appeal to them? Not really. Their main goal is to appeal to the target audience.
