PETA, PETA, PETA...

Why do people still pay attention to these people? They're clearly only out to troll other people.

"Sea Kittens" was pretty hilarious, though.

Mostly to point and laugh I'd imagine.

Because the idea of giving animals individual rights is still a controversial topic.

Well as far as these forums are concerned, PETA had already disappeared under the radar till you posted this.

Because of people like you. Are you happy now?

Except at this point, PETA's goal is "get as much attention s possible," not "save animals!"

They've fallen very far from where they once were.

People make fun of PETA because they know that PETA is right, but making fun of them is a way for people to still feel okay about torturing and killing animals.

Or because they're a bunch of lunatics and we enjoy making fun of those types of people? I don't see how they're right about anything.

They're right about the fact that humans mistreat other animals on the regular just so we can have a better tasting meal. Is that so difficult to admit? Even a lunatic can be right about something.

Plenty of animals eat other animals. I don't see why we should be any different.

If killing them so we can eat is "mistreating" them, then I guess most wild animals mistreat each other.

I agree that reforms need to be made regarding the way animals are kept and treated in preparation for slaughter, but the message PETA is putting out is "all meat eating is bad all the time stop it now," not "reforms need to be made."

PETA is right about humans mistreating animals. They want to help, but their insane antics almost parody their own beliefs. They resort to flashy, shocking tactics to gain attention, instead of helping anyone.

Remember when they wanted people to drink human breast milk instead of cow's milk? (Nevermind the fact that cows need to be milked for their own health.) Or how they resort to using women in a sexist light in order to get attention? PETA's not being mocked because they want to help animals, they're not being mocked because people don't want to listen. They're mocked because the way thy go about things is counterproductive and shameful, for the most part.

There are much better ways to help animals than sensationalism, sexism, and ridiculous antics that take focus away from the needs of animals and put it on themselves. You can see a lot of lesser-known organizations make more effective moves without being attention whores. This video for example, does not feature a woman in chains writhing in the mud or getting freaky with vegetables.

Yeah, but most animals don't torture each other before eating each other, and most animals don't raise other animals for the specific purpose of consumption.

Also, humans have empathy. We understand when we are causing suffering to another living creature, and we have the capacity to understand the concept of rights, which is unique to the human species.

Also, we have alternative methods of acquiring the nutrition that we need. There are a lot of vegetarians and vegans who live very healthy lives, meat is not necessary to our diet like it may be to some other animals.

In summary, the "animals eat each other therefore everything humans do is okay" logicombat is not a very good one.

Why can't you just admit that even though you disagree with what this group does that they might at least be partially right? What are you so afraid of?

They also tried to convince people that drinking milk causes Autism and that humans evolved as herbivores (which one can tell is untrue merely by noting one's own canines).

Yeah, but most animals don't torture each other before eating each other
If you're referring to the cruelty some workers subject animals to before slaughter, surely you understand that this is neither industry standard nor generally accepted.

Because I honestly don't have a problem with raising animals just to kill them later.

If you think that's cruel, fine. But not everyone is going to agree.

What about caged chickens? What about veal? What about shark fins?

I did say that reforms need to be made, and that is one of them. But honestly, labeling it "torture" is just hyperbolic. The others also don't technically qualify as torture either, although I am opposed to both.

That's okay, I expected that because of the type of person that you are.

This is a pretty horrible analogy. @.@

You're being intellectually dishonest by putting forth the assertion that there's no difference between humans and other animals when it comes to how the former obtains and consumes meat, and for what purpose meat is consumed.

EDIT: Damn, I took too long thinking of a concise response that everyone beat me to it. :(

Because I personally don't see any difference. Some humans and animals like to eat meat. We just tend to go about it different ways.

But generally speaking, I don't have an issue with what humans do. Obviously some go too far, but PETA seems to act like that's the norm.

I thought you ignored it before, but I guess you must have just missed it. Silly me, no one could be that rude.
