Actually, forget what I said last time. Okay, you probably already did, but whatever. It appears our goal is Route 20? There is where I find really really weird music, the rival guy, and...a bondage girl just sitting in the middle of the route. Wait, that means she must have gotten by the guardhouse. Some guards they are. Anyway, Oshawott finally gets to do its thing here. Doesn't evolve though - I gotta go beat up an Audino for that. Where I find that apparently, a Level 13 Audino is really sturdy and a Level 16 Oshawott has trouble fighting it. But it does it, gaining two levels in the process. I actually probably would've kept it as an Oshawott for a bit, if it wasn't for that. By the way, love the Autumn mix of Route 19/20. The violin = great.
So then I can go see Homika in conversation with some captain, and inside his shack is the rival. A question for me? Yes? OH GOD NO IT'S CASTELIA CITY TIME.
Upon getting there, I talk to some peeps and pick up an item, and...wait, what in the fuck? Some clown just immediately hands me a bicycle. Why? Back in MY day, bikes cost a million dollars. You at least had to be from a faraway town or save some old dude to be given one! Not have some pedo just walk up and hand you one out of the blue.
So I walk around and talk to people for a bit on the main street and piers. Then I wander into the battle company and immediately get an Exp. Share. Okay...? Some girl then asks me a question. First response? No? Um...I discern that she's asking me what I started with, and verify it when I see some lines and name of Oshawott and Snivy in Japanese. So I go Oshawott, and whaddaya know, I'm right, and get a Mysticwater! Meanwhile, another clown says I am, in fact, right, with a sound effect, then says nothing. What?
Floor 47 goes fine with Dewott leading. Dat Razor Shell. I'm a bit worried about the prospect of fighting Budew...but I shouldn't have been because it dies to a critical tackle. I get some stuff too, including an item I have no idea what is from a random scientist who doesn't want to fight. Now on the main floor, Janitorboss...has no people around him except some kid. Wait, so his kid inherited the company, I guess? BUT HE'S JUST A SCHOOLKID! With an Eevee and a Herdier. Quick Attack is annoying on the former, and almost costs Dewott on the latter. After beating his face in, I get dick all.
Then I head to the far pier, and get taken...wait, I don't recognize this place at all. New area? With some stone lighthouse and an abandoned basement where some guy used to live and vending machines and some upper floor I can't reach?
Statistics place next. Um, yes? A menu with quotes? I think I'll pass. No wait, now someone is giving me a massive fucking list? Last option? Last option? What the hell did I just get for that?
Some more running around later, and I get bored and quit for a bit. Then I get me Genesect, then after some even more quitting, I give my friend and her twin sister the data, then I finally decide to start it up again. So I go to the gym, and some...dude...is in the way. Totally-Not-Uber Iris comes along and asks me to go somewhere, I guess. So I go to every shore, find nothing, then find her leading me to the furthest dock. Also, Rivalguy shows up and runs inside the docks. Which are actually sewers, I guess.
And by the way, now I've completely forgotten what I was going to use in the game. Whoops? Did I even muse about it anywhere? Well, apparently I did about Fire types. Which wasn't conclusive at all. Well, here I can catch Rattatas, Grimers, and Zubats. The former was tempting. A base 80 attack with STAB this early in the game is cheap as shit. Zubat apparently learns some decent moves early on? lol @ grimer.
Even in this game though, some types are just so deficient. Not as bad as BW, but still enough to annoy. Let's think, though. Don't really wanna keep on going with two for too too long, so on Route 4, I'm either catching Sandile or Mandibuzz; probably the former unless something cooler that's a Ground comes up.
So yeah. That's the situation heading into this place. Moving on, finally.
