Good morning passengers, it's your Captain, Sir Jet speaking.
Today, I'd like to share with you my Pokemon Black, Nuzlocke Playthrough.
I have been very interested in playing a Nuzlocke Challenge, and I finally got around to starting one.
To those of you who are unfamiliar with what a Nuzlocke challenge is, here is a brief description of what a Nuzlocke Challenge is.
[source: Nuzlocke Challenge - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia ]The Nuzlocke Challenge is a set of rules intended to create a higher level of difficulty while playing the Pokémon games. Many challengers feel that the rules also serve the purpose of encouraging the use of Pokémon the player would not normally choose, and promoting closer bonds with the player's Pokémon. The rules are not an in-game function, but are self-imposed on the part of the player, and thus subject to variation.
In my Nuzlocke Challenge I will be following only the Core rules, seeing as it is only my first time, and I haven't exactly gauged how well I would play. In case you didn't know these are the Core rules in a Nuzlocke Challenge.
[source: Nuzlocke Challenge - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia ]The most basic Nuzlocke rules, as they were first introduced, are as follows:
Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released.
The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances.
While not exactly a definite rule, the general consensus is that players must also nickname all of their Pokémon, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds.
I chose to play in Pokemon Black because I thought it would be fun seeing as it is relatively new, and it would help me get to know the Pokemon, and the gameplay of 5th Gen better.
I hope to be posting my progress in a series of blogs such as this. I hope you guys enjoy.
Part 1: The start of the Journey.
Alright, time to get my game attitude on. Nuzlocke is serious shit.
Cheren is in my room, and Bianca just came too.
Time to pick a starter.. I always go for the fire types.. but this Pig seems bad.. but then again I prefer it over these other guys, Screw it!
*Chose Tepig as a starter pokemon*
First rival battles... great, let's see if I made the right choice by choosing this pig.
*Won against Bianca and Cheren easily by spamming Tackle*
Well, it looks like this pig has got some kick to it. Time to thank the Prof.
--AT JUNIPER'S LAB
*Nicknamed the starter, Bonny (Bon-Fire, and due to the fact it looks like a bunny <_<)*
Alright.. now the long speech about how I need to complete the Pokedex, and how I might learn some values on the way.. whatever Juni-baby, I'm on Nuzlocke I know this shit.
--AT ROUTE 1 (Juniper just finished teaching me how to catch Pokemon.. like I didn't already know.)
Alright, my flighty friend Bianca here wanted to play a game where we'd see who would be able to catch the most Pokemon by the time we get to Accumula town.. great.. Well since I am in Nuzlocke, I can only catch one on this Route.. now time to step into the grass..
*Wild Lillipup appeared*
Ahh damn, well I guess it's better than Patrat.
*Caught Lillipup, nicknamed Cheerio (since come on, those evolutions look pretty British to me, if I do say so myself old chap. Chawhawhaw)*
Moveset sucks.. just Tackle? well I guess it's STAB. Welcome to the team Cheerio.
About to reach Accumula town.. found out each of us got only 2 Pokemon, what the hell, are they on Nuzlocke too? That would be pretty awesome.
Next Blog Entry: Part 2: Liberation, and some High dude thinks my Pokemon are talking.
Love to hear your comments and your opinion if you want to hear more of what's happening with my play through. :D
