Goodbye, Michael

Rate this Entry
Tomorrow, a great television icon will leave us, joining his fiancé in returning home, finally settling down to start the family he's always dreamed of and leaving the company he's loyally served for 19 years. I'm talking, of course, about Michael Gary Scott, manager of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch and arguably the "World's Best Boss."

Despite being politically incorrect and socially awkward, Michael Scott managed to let his big heart show even amidst the offensive jokes and inappropriate pranks. Michael remembered the birthdays of every one of his employees and considered the office one, big, happy family. But don't let the closed in office fool you; Michael Scott is an accomplished screenwriter, stand-up comedian, author, and an undeniably talented and experienced paper salesman, with an unrivaled knowledge of Pennsylvania paper.

Michael Scott has had his ups, and his downs. He's not afraid to cry, and will go far out of his way to help his friends, even if his approach is a little misguided. He's also had his fair share of lovers. He's dated his boss, the mother of an employee, and a successful local restaurant owner to name a few. But Michael has had the privilege that few have shared, meeting his soul mate. Finally with a love worth running away with, recently engaged Michael Scott will leave Scranton and the office to finally be a part of the family he's been looking for for so long.

So this is to you, Michael. May you find happiness in the rest of your journey, and be sure to check in on everyone once in a while!

"... I saw my entire life flash before my eyes. And guess what? I have four kids. And I have a hover car and a hover house. And my wife is a runner and it shows. And Pam and Jim are my best friends and our kids play together. And... I'm happy and I'm rich and I never die. That doesn't sound like much, but it's enough for me."

- Michael G. Scott, World's Best Boss

I'm not the biggest fan of the US Office, but I dug the Rent parody they did last week.
