wait... so did you get fired? Or did you quit? I'm seeing both here.

I was considering quitting and Musashi fired me (which I still hold cannot be done on the spur of the moment so either they had to have been plotting it for some time or she was out of line herself).

She got fired by Musashi, with full authority from me, then posted this blog before we made any public posts ourselves over it. So...fired, I'd say.

Blackjack, despite our repeated differences, I've constantly stood up for you in staff discussions over the past 8 years. Your behaviour in this instance, leading to a mod resigning because of how you were treating them, was simply a bridge too far. As it was, I still argued that you should be given a chance in this instance, if you made an apology in front of the other staff and recognised that you were in the wrong. Obviously, from the way you reacted to Musashi and myself, that's not happening.

BTW Blackjack, since you're obviously going to continue watching this, and you've gone and blocked me on AIM in your little fit of anger, allow me to respond to something you said quickly.

Now, the specific post of mine you somehow misinterpreted was as follows.
"Writers Workshop, I need the details of your contest. Don't worry about the prizes, I will decide and assign those."
How you could possibly come from that post and say what you did, I don't know, since it's quite clear to every other person who read it that it meant I'd be picking the prizes.

Archaic, evkl, Evil Figment and I, all agreed that you would be fired if you didn't apologize to Legacy. What you said to him was completely out of line and the last straw. I've been the head admin since October. Hardly jumping at the first chance I got to fire you.

You don't go around chastising mods for not doing what you wanted. You are not head of the Writer's Workshop, you don't get some claim on deciding what happens.

Sorry to hear that from you. I may not be around, but it's sad to hear you fired for a matter like this.

I did nothing whatsoever wrong to merit a forced apology. I cannot be held accountable for his behavior. And sure I wasn't head of the WW, but I outranked Legacy.

What *I* wanted? We had AGREED on the damn prize. That was a group consensus.

Archaic, funny how that works for you. We'd agreed on a prize. For you to decide on anything BUT the box set is imposing your will on a group decision--something you always accused *me* of doing.

Actually, you did not outrank him.

There are basically two ranks for moderators (except provisionals) - "moderator" and "section head". It doesn't matter whether you're a moderator in all forums (super moderator) or in only a few (moderator): unless you're the relevant forum head, you don,t outrank other moderators.

You weren't the section head in WW, therefore, you did not outrank Legacy.

I might add that when you say "we as a group had discussed" consisted of you suggesting the prize in question and me saying "OK". There was no further discussion on that particular prize. Two out of the then eight Workshop moderators agreeing does not make a group discussion or a consensus. Some time later Kayi, who was the section head and definitely did outrank all of us said "We need to decide on prizes" thus making it quite clear that the decision on what prize was going to be used was not closed.

When Legacy posted what he did, he did so in a rush because none of the other Workshop mods (myself included because, as I said, I was away at the time, as was Kayi) had bothered to post anything about the Christmas contest (even after prompting from Archaic where we were told not to worry about the prizes) and it was already too late - not to mention Legacy did so from his phone as he was in hospital at the time. I really fail to see how anything that he did can be viewed in a negative light, particularly as he was covering for all of us WW mods. Even if he had been making a mistake and posting the wrong prize (which he wasn't) the fact that he was making up for something that the rest of us should have already taken care of would have more than made up for that and still meant that we owed him gratitude not criticism.

I did not want to get involved in this mess but I will not see Legacy, the hardest working Workshop mod by a long way, insulted in public like this.

Being a mod looks like stressful stuff.

So to the mods, go fuck yourselves.

Seeing as how I have done nothing whatsoever to wrong you, I don't know why you're telling me to fuck myself. Generally, telling an entire group of people to go do something negative is something that racists, homophobes, sexists, and other bad groups resort to. Are you sure that you want to be like them?
