Why don't they call it Smash Sisters?

I mean there are plenty of female characters in the game too you know. Blatant sexism if you ask me.

Because the majority of characters are male, not to mention all the games they come from (except Samus, Wii Fit, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing) all feature males as the protagonist.

How about renaming it Smash Folk. A name which represents gender equality.

I dont see any reason to make a big deal of it. Obviously their intent was not to be sexist, and "Super Smash Folk" is just plain boring in my opinion. It's been around for years and theyre not going to change the name, nor should they.

Yup, great idea, they really should change the name of the franchise to confuse a lot of people. I mean, I am all for gender equality (Not really. I am actually all for the end of such thing know as "gender"), but still, it wouldn't make any sense to change the name of the series now. They should have thought about that back in the N64 era, not now.

Fire Emblem also feature female protagonists.

Though I think it's mostly due to the fact that the title is kind of based off of both Mario and Luigi, who are indeed brothers. The name just kind of stuck I guess.

Obviously they'd call it Super Bash Sisters.

I'd always thought it was called Smash Bros. because of Mario, tbh. But I'd see no reason to ever rename it even if there were an equal number of males and females. It's just a name.

I fail to see the sexism.

Because clearly Nintendo named it such to piss off the feminists. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the series it's based on primarily being called Super Mario BROTHERS.

Four of those women are actually two women in different outfits (Zelda and Samus, if you were wondering,) so I'd hardly call it 'sexism.' Or, well, maybe it is sexism, but certainly not against the men.

Personally, I could stand to see some more women in Smash.

How about Dark Samus? Or Crystal? Or Daisy as her own character? The Legend of Zelda has plenty of females to choose from: from Tetra to Midna to Impa, you name it. Here's a crazy one: upgrade Lynndis to playable character, or give us Elincia, or how about Lucina? Birdo's a trans woman, but that still counts. How about her? And since they brought in Mega Man and Sonic, why not Roll and Amy while we're at it?

In fact, let's pretend for a minute that they added all of the suggestions I've given. Combine that with all the women that currently exist in the franchise...and they still don't catch up to the number of dudes in the game.

Ahh, I figured I had missed one. Not that I really know much about Fire Emblem though .-.

Or maybe because there's no sexism?...

And you're making stupid assumptions. You know what they say what assumptions, they make an ass out of you.

Only misogynists would resist a name change that doesn't oppress women. Shame on you guys.

Well I don't appreciate your misogynistic views, but I do appreciate your honesty.

'Kay, this blog's getting a little out of hand. Joking around is fine, and the discussion of sexism in game titles and/or female characters and all that's fine, but y'all need to tone it down.
