Animal Crossing: New Leaf Diary Day 23: July Greetings, New Developments and Toilets

And here we are at the first day of July. And it's raining! It also just so happens to be raining constantly in real life for me at the moment as well. Animal Crossing is imitating real life...
Rain is an awful way to start a new month but some bulletin board news does cheer me up:
Of course, they could just be making up bullcrap too. But surely a bulletin board wouldn't lie right?
Remember that cafe I talked about yesterday? Well since I paid off the hot spring, I set everything in place for the cafe to be built tomorrow. I also paid it off later that night in a few island trips. So many beetles, so little time.
Here is my new basement:
And here is how it looked at the end of the day:
I really wasn't kidding when I said I was going to use this for unwanted items. Well, my tools aren't unwanted per se, they're just crowding my inventory. The developers seriously need to make a separate inventory for tools.
Today is the start of July, and you can find a couple new fish as well as a bunch of new bugs. Cicadas are everywhere at this time, even when it's raining, it seems. Also, another horrible awful terrifying bad bad bug joins the tarantula in holy matrimony: the scorpion. The scorpion can now be spotted at the same time tarantulas can, and they also attack you and knock you unconscious if you're not quick enough in catching them. Let's just say I was reluctant to play as much tonight because of it. Last night I saw a tarantula that nearly gave me a heart attack but fell off the cliff before it could see me. Good riddance.
This is a Star Fox reference, which is lost on me since I haven't played any Star Fox games. The Arwing ship you get as a prize is pretty neat when you touch it though.
More importantly, the T & T Mart is closing for renovations tomorrow! Yes! A bigger mart! Which means more stuff to buy! I can't wait! Also, the salon that I told you about yesterday will finally be opening tomorrow so I look forward to ditching my default hairstyle for a long time.
Celebration for the hot springs. This is smaller than I thought it was going to be. Dammit. How am I going to have my obligatory hot springs episode with a hot spring this small??
Emotion of the Day: Sleepy
I tried out my emotions with Fang today:
It's so cute to see them reacting to emotes. I'm not sure why none of them will react to "shocked" though.
She always caps off her terrible prices with a smile. There's a devil inside this animal. I know it.
Miranda brings up a good point:
Is apple cake a real thing? I've never heard of it before that moment. Miranda shares some backstory as I keep talking to her though. I guess she had a big opportunity at one point to see her name in lights. but she gave it all up to live here.
This made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Miranda is easily one of the best "snooty" personalities I've come across. Let's be Best Friends For-
Oh...I guess we're not quite there yet. That's...okay too I suppose.
It is after that conversation that I'm glad I decided to make her stay here. She can be a little appearance-obsessed but most of the time she has some great things to say. Miranda is the one female in town who's clearly above the rest. And I don't mean just in my book. She's always been much more mature and pleasant to be around than Paula, Pango, Rocket or Bettina. Now if only she could stop pestering me about fruit all the time.
That's all for day. Tomorrow big stuff is happening in Tartarus, and I can't wait.
Back off my toilet dude.
I wasn't going to trade, but he was offering a green counter so I had to take the offer. I need some more blinged-out emerald furniture for my pad.
