Am I wrong for portraying Calem like this?

I'm feeling guilty about my fanfics again. No, I'm not trying to be emo, but something came up.
I've finished about 30 chapters of Pokemon X and Y: Dawn of a New Era (it's far from finished, though). I was looking for other journey fics based on Pokemon X and Y - especially ones that involved Calem. Then I stumbled upon this:
It stars Serena, so it has Calem as the rival. In it, Calem is portrayed as a stuck-up, arrogant, cold, callous, and snarky douchebag who treats Serena like an inferior being. He makes a lot of mean-spirited comments in the story. Basically, he's turned into a pretty boy in terms of personality.
This is how Calem is described: "Calem, a power-hungry prodigy that just can't seem to keep his trap shut…"
Basically, the writer turned Calem into yet another Gary Oak-type rival.
On top of that, the story is a lot more descriptive in mine, and the Pokemon are involved in it than in mine. Plus it got some good reviews, rather than many by one reviewer who I had to block due to pointless reviews. I tried to be as courteous as possible in my review - I even told her I would like her to continue. She even brags about the effort she put into her fanfic.
Unfortunately, now I feel that my portrayal of Calem is less likable than this girl's Calem. I mean, look at how I portrayed Calem - you'd think I made him a total pansy. In my fics: Calem's shy and soft-spoken, he's depicted crying at least once, he has a somewhat sugary personality, he likes the color pink (and wears the pink striped shirt combo that you can get in Laverre City in one of my fanfics), he's worn revealing swimwear, he's into fashion, he has a plushie in his likeness, he dislikes sports, he likes it when Serena reads him a fairy tale, and he doesn't like battling as much as Serena. He basically sounds gay, though I've made it clear that he's not gay. Neither is he intended to be an uke. I just felt that he's open to interpretation, since the player characters have little canon personality.
Even Shauna seems quite different - Shauna's kindness is contrasted with Calem's arrogance in her fic, whereas in my fic Calem calls Shauna out on rudeness a few times. I'm not bothered by the portrayal of Shauna, since I think she portrayed her closer to canon than I did.
But this girl seems that she thinks her portrayal of Calem reflects canon (probably not her intent, but she comes off as a bit of an egotist). I don't think it's any more canonical than my depiction, and I don't see my depiction of Calem as canon - I'm aware I made up most of his personality. I even made up his last name and his parents' background (it's different between my story and hers).
I hope I'm not wrong for making Calem way too sensitive in my fanfics. I think I need some advice.
