Why My Little Pony?

I don't mean to be rude, or slanderous when I ask this question. All I want is an honest answer to an honest, simple question: What is the appeal in My Little Pony?

I just want to know. After months of dismissing the Brony community as a stupid and childish bunch, I decided that what I was doing was also childish and stupid: judging something without even trying what I judged, so I did try it; a couple days ago, I watched an entire episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And you know what? I got absolutely nothing I wasn't expecting!

What about this show has made it so popular in the internet pop culture, amongst many grown men? What redeeming quality am I overlooking that makes MLP hit so far above the same demographic that Dora the Explorer targets? I just don't get it.

I am begging a Brony to explain to me what exactly it is about this show that appeals to them, because I just can't understand it, like at all. Once again, I am not trying to be rude, even if I am, I am merely asking a question, and wanting an answer. So please, answer it.

Probably the animation (which is pretty good to be honest) and I dunno, I heard it has catchy songs. A fan of the show can probably give better arguments.

I'm not a brony, but it really is as basically good as any primetime ensemble sitcom like Friends or the Big Bang Theory, but everyone's just ALSO a horse.

As a fan of the show myself, I can definitely say the animation does have to do with it. Plus it's written by some great writers who make the episodes special. It could also be because it's created by one of the people who worked on The Powerpuff Girls back in the day and Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, both really good old cartoons. Many men who like MLP were kids back in the 90s and watched PPG too. So I guess it has a sense of nostalgia maybe? As a brony, I am sure the animation has to do with most of it .

Why does it matter? People like what they like. If you don't like it then it shouldn't be your concern.

@TheMissingno.; Jesus Christ, like I've said, I'm not trying to degrade them for it, I'm just trying to figure out why so maybe I can see it and enjoy.

I like some of the concepts and ideas that they use. It would have taken me FOREVER think of a few of the villains that appeared in the show (minus the one from the season 3 premiere, he wasn't very developed).

And I just like the characters and how some of them really develop over all of the episodes and start to look better as the series goes on. Also, when I first heard of MLP, I wasn't expecting that they were going to have Dragons, Minotaurs, Cerberi, Changelings, Griffons, Manticores, and a whole bunch of other mythical creatures. Honestly, because of the MLP in the past (which only showed multi-colored ponies without cool powers or anything), I didn't expect much of a fantasy aspect to come around. Turns out that I was wrong.

Just watch it. If you like it you like it, if you don't you don't. People can't really convince you to like something.

The Brony Chronicles Part 1: Origins - YouTube This is part 1 but it should provide you with a decent (that is, lengthy) explanation.

I don't see the appeal either. I think it's just spread through internet culture like wildfire and that has lead to people giving something they otherwise wouldn't watch or like, more of a chance.

It was created by the same girl that did Foster's Home, PowerPuff girls, and Iron Giant.

Thanks. But that's not my video (if you thought it was). Though I would like to make videos like it. And there's more parts that you should look out for in the future.

Its got good animation, good writers, slapstick humor that's actually funny, great characterization, and even some good old fashioned morals. In short, if one were to throw away all preconceptions and societal barriers, they would find it to be a genuinely happy show. It's just what the animation/tv industry was missing, where in many places is drenched in irony and cynicism. From my perspective, the show is in many ways parallel to Pokemon in terms of the positive feelings it's designed to produce.

I find it overhyped myself, but surprisingly, I do enjoy it. The writing's pretty sharp, the voice acting's great, and the characters are all pretty unique and that causes them to surprisingly mesh really well together and play off one another's characteristics and attitudes.

Anytime I see Twilight Sparkle's brother, I think "Gil" from Johnny Test, though. So I laugh when I hear him...XD.

My Little Ponies is a show only pedos and furries tune in to. It's disgusting.
