Hello one and all, my name is Koult45 (may be changing that soon), and I'd like to welcome you to my blog.
I plan to start my own top 100 favorite Pokemon countdown, so I figured I might as well introduce myself before diving into this project.
In this blog I will basically be introducing myself, and talking about everything, from my pokemon beliefs, to my actual, philosophical beliefs.
First of all, I'd like to tell you my Pokemon story, since that will likely be the theme of my blog, as this is a Pokemon Forum, after all.
So I got into Pokemon at the age of 8, however, my memory is a little foggy as to what exactly was my first bit of exposure to the Pokemon franchise. It was either Pokemon LeafGreen, or the first Pokemon movie, which I rented at the library. In which order I received them, I will probably never know for sure, as much as I desire to.
However, whether the movie or the game was my first Poke experience, there is no doubt which pokemon is the first I owned, that would be Squirtle. To this day, Squirtle remains one of my favorite starter lines, and one of my favorite pokemon in general.
Well, I really don't have time to write all about my Pokemon history right now, but in short, I went on to collect many more pokemon games, Sapphire being the first one I actually managed to beat, and still remains my favorite to this day.
The only real spinoff experience I've had with Pokemon is the Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team game, a game which I enjoyed thoroughly. For anyone who cares, I was a Treecko, and my partner was a Totodile.
I have a philosophy when it comes to Pokemon, and that is to never restart a game, except FireRed, which is the only one I haven't reached the hall of fame in, and one that I have already restarted many times in the past. The purpose of this personal code is so my experience with my pokemon feels real, so that all that training I did with them, and that long journey I had with that was not for naught, instead, it was very personal and real, the way pokemon was meant to be experience, that you don't bond with your pokemon for no reason, just to erase them from your memory once you start a new game, or once you send them to another game where they have no history in. I know that sounds corny and weird, but it is how I feel.
Also, I only get two versions at most, so I am forced to pick only two starters, because I feel like you should have to choose between them, not be allowed to have them all, and I usually have a completely different team each time. Also, I don't trade, but that is due more to the fact that my DS doesn't connect to my wi-fi, otherwise I would, because God knows I want an Electivire!
I do competitive battling, but only on Pokemon Showdown. If you want to battle me on there, feel free to ask, my user name there is the same as it is on here (Koult45 that is, in case my name has been changed since you read this).
I am a huge fan of Salamence, and a huge hater of Dragonite, but that is for another day, another blog.
My least favorite pokemon would probably be Emolga, because I hate it's design with a passion, felt it was a ripoff of Pachirisu without even giving it an evolution, and it has rabies, come on.
I think I've pretty much covered everything I want to for now pokemon wise, those are the basics, there will be a lot more discussion to come later on about that, but for now, I'm done.
For video game in general: My favorite series is Halo, because I love the characters, multiplayer, atmosphere, story, and pretty much everything to do with Halo. My favorite game in the series is reach, my favorite character is the Arbiter, my favorite gun is the Carbine, and my favorite vehicle is the banshee.
Another game I really like is Minecraft. I love the creativity it inspires, the various YouTube series it spawns, and all those amazingly varied multiplayer servers that you can find all over the web.
Other games I like include: Star Wars: Battlefront II (my favorite game of all time), Call of Duty: Black Ops (and any Call of Duty pre-MW3), Assassin's Creed II (and all the Assassin's Creed games before III, that was one of the biggest gaming letdowns for me ever), Red Dead Redemption, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the Mario series, including the main series, and all those spinoffs, among lots and lots of other awesome video games.
Other things I like in entertainment include: The Walking Dead (my favorite current TV show), Lord of the Rings (will forever be my favorite movie series), and way too much more to think of right now. I know this section was severely lacking in content, but you can probably expect a desperate blog dealing with this category at some point.
Don't expect me to do an anime blog, however, because, unlike seemingly every other Pokemon fan in existence, I do not like anime. At all. I do apologize, I understand some of you may be offended by this, just understand that this is my opinion, not yours. It is perfectly fine if you like anime, just not my thing.
Other hobbies I enjoy are Writing, I love to make up stories, and I am currently working on a fan fic; Football, I'm not as big a football fan as I used to be, but I still greatly enjoy the sport. I am forgoing football myself during my senior year for health reasons, but I am a fan and follower of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. Hunting is another thing I like to do, I like to travel, and would love to journey the world some day, and finally, I just like to hang out with friends, which I know everyone on the face of the earth does as well, so I know this will come as no surprise.
On to my beliefs, a subject which will be extremely touchy, and if you do not share my exact beliefs, you WILL get offended, just a warning that you may just want to skip this entire section, which will run the remainder of the blog. I am perfectly open-minded about this, and I will not mind at all having a respectful debate with any of you, as long as it is kept peaceful.
I am a Deist. What is a Deist, you may ask? A Deist is someone who believes that the universe was created by a god, or gods, but that this person/people does not regulate our world, or demand worship and sacrifice on his own behalf. We believe that this person, or people, have left ourselves in charge of humanity.
Why am I a Deist? Because I believe that nature clearly suggests that it was designed by someone. Are you telling me that humanity, in it's infinite complexity, went through all those stages of evolution since the beginning of time without a hand to guide it? (yes, I believe in evolution, I'm just saying, I don't think it could have happened on it's own.) That doesn't seem very likely to me.
However, I believe that the "defined" religions have it just as wrong as the Atheists do. Basically, religion is nothing more than propaganda to prove their respective country's superiority in the world. Also, the only way people become religious is either a.) they are born into a religious family, or b.) out of fear, or because they are nearing death, or have had a traumatic experience.
Look, I know religion can act as a comfort to people, but it does not benefit humanity as a whole, because the more people that get involved in a religion, the more people believe that they are to focus their lives on worshiping a god that is not asking for worship, which not only does absolutely nothing for our country and world, but does absolutely nothing for themselves.
The God I believe in does not give out any moral boundaries of his own, instead trusting us to do it, unlike the God of every religion ever. There is very little we can really ever know about this god, but that is not important, because deism encourages progress and reason, not faith. I am probably doing a bad job explaining this (I'm writing at 2:40 in the morning, my mind is pretty foggy XD), so let me link you this site, which will do a much better job explaining this: http://www.deism.com/
Now, I'm out of religion, and onto politics, let's discuss that, shall we?
First of all, I am pro Gay Rights, and I really don't know why there are people who are against it. It is absolutely no one's business whom grown adults, or anyone for that matter, chooses to love, especially the government's. The fact that gay marriage is still illegal in most states makes me sick, and makes me believe this country is a communism.
Secondly, I consider myself a pro-lifer, because I know women want to control their body, but the thing is, a baby's body =/= your body. You want your precious choice, you get your choice when you choose to have sex. I don't understand why this is so hard to understand, abortion should be as illegal as murder, except in cases of rape, and to save the mother's life.
Thirdly, I am against the death penalty, completely, because I think the idea of the government murdering people is horribly wrong, and should be have been kept in the past in which the Catholic Church ruled during the Dark Ages. They'll suffer much more with a life in prison anyway, and besides, there have been plenty of cases where the victim of capital punishment was found innocent after he was killed. Yeah, justice, right?
Furthermore, I am for the legalization of weed, because a.) Weed is more healthy for you then Beer, which is legal, and B.) even if it wasn't, having it illegal is doing absolutely nothing, as someone could just go buy some weed off the black market if he wanted some, putting money into the hands of criminals, rather then the government.
As far as gun rights, I as very against the ban of guns, as not only am I a fan of guns myself, but banning them will do nothing but create another black market.
Economy wise, I believe in very limited government, and low taxes, as much so as possible. I confess to being rather ignorant when it comes to some of the individual fiscal issues, but I am sure I would maintain the same basic principles that I have just described.
That's about it for politics, and for my introductory blog in general, if you have any question/concerns/want to debate, feel free to do any of these things in the comments below. Thank you all very much for sitting through my awful opinions, I hope that I have somewhat made a good use of your time, expect that top 100 blog I talked about earlier to come out soon, as well as many other random blogs on a variety of topics.
Colt signing off.
