A Sad Day

Today was supposed to be a normal day. I came to school, talked to my friends and went to class, but I forgot to take note of one absentation. My friend who's name I will withhold.

It turns out that my friend was hospitalized over the weekend because his white blood cells began attacking his vital organs and cells.

That's right, my friend has leukemia.

I walked home with this guy nearly every day, including last Friday. He seemed so normal and healthy. How long has he had this? They say when you notice cancer it's too late, but just thinking about him dying makes me want to cry.

He is really studious. Sometimes it bothered me how freaked out he would get about schoolwork. The last thing I told him on Friday was to calm down, we don't have that much homework.

Plus, he's like the only Asian person I know. He is from mainland China, but he has always expressed disdain for that place, stating that he doesn't want to go back.

Now I fear he may never go back. I'm just praying that he pulls through. I might go visit him tomorrow.

The saddest thing is since it's sports week, I usually bring my 3DS to play Pokemon, but I would bring my Mario Kart 7 for him to play when I'm done with Pokemon. Now Mario Kart just reminds me of him now.

I'm just hoping and praying that he gets better.

Go visit him as much as you can, that'll really cheer your friend up and show how much he means to you. My dad had lukemia in the early 90s, he took an experimental treatment which made him better and he's all fine now, modern medicine keeps on improving, and he's in good hands :) I really hope your freind pulls through and gets on the road to recovery quickly :)

I'll be hoping, too. There's hardly any reason he had to come down with this, and it'll be great if he pulls through.

I'm so sorry to hear that your friend is in such bad health. I hope he get's better.

I pray that your friend will get better. My grandfather had colon cancer when he was 70. The doctors said as it was he wouldn't live and surgery would be too risky, but my grandfather had the surgery anyway. They removed part of his colon and connected the remaining parts, and you know what? He lived. The cancer was stopped in its tracks and my grandfather lived for 16 more years. He died two years and some months ago of nothing but old age taking its toll on his body. If my grandfather could survive cancer all those years ago, I have no doubt your friend will now.

Least you can do is visit him, and remind him he has a friend who will always be with him.

I wish I knew what to say honey. I know how it feels, I really do. I don't know if there is anything I can say to make you feel better, and I don't really think I can, so I'll give you a picture of a Suicune I drew instead.

My uncle was diagnosed with Leukemia about 7 years ago and up until he died last January (from throat cancer) the Leukemia was managable and it barely affected him at all. It depends whether it's acute/chronic but your friend has youth on his side which is a really good thing.
