Well, in other news, hi Bulbagarden! Haven't been for yet another month! For some reason I feel like this is a medical checkup routine by now...it's almost always 4-6 weeks of me off of this forum.

Recently I've been wanting to get into RPGs other than Pokémon, so I started playing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. No, before you haters spring on me for not getting the GBA games instead, I couldn't find a single damn copy of Golden Sun or Golden Sun: The Lost Age ANYWHERE in South Australia at GameTraders, and supplies of Game Boy Advance systems are RUNNING LOW here, which makes both of them hard to come by without eBay browsing (which I don't do because, for one, I don't have a credit card that I can call my own yet and my family's in a bit of strife with money management right now which would make my parents very protective of their credit card income). Heck, it was hard to secure a copy of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn by itself, and only one store in the city had copies of the game!
Spoilers inbound...even though it's been three or so years at the time of this post that the game has been out.

Starting with a few thoughts:
So, I play the game and I get to a point where I'm about to enter the Endless Wall, and I freak out at one point because I missed a Djinn that can only be gotten around the time the Grave Eclipse begins. I was fortunate enough to have several saves, and one of them was saved right in Belinsk, before Arangoa Prelude was requested. After recovering up to the point where we would leave with Eoleo on the ship, I didn't think it was too bad, the progress I had lost, especially since it gave me a chance to redo my early material forging choices - notably, before I had chosen Excalibur for Tyrell the first time, and a sort-of wonky weapon choice for the rest of them minus Matthew (obviously having the Gaia Blade located in an often-missed portion of Yamata Ruins). With this restart, I was able to get a MUCH better weapon for Eoleo (which also happens to be one of, if not the strongest), the Herculean Axe, while I went for Levatine for Tyrell (a weapon that has more benefits under his usage, due to several Mars-based Unleashes as well as the almighty Centurion).

Weapon talk.
Speaking of Unleashes, for some infathomable reason, just about every time Eoleo managed to use an Unleash while he had Mythril Clothes on, he used Olympus Rage! Not only was it epic, I had set him up with the Master class, so the attack was both fast and powerful. Meanwhile, I went Chaos Lord Matthew and, following on from Golden Sun Universe's notes, set him up with a high Unleash rate. Of course, the only real thing I was bummed about by going Chaos Lord is that I miss out on the chance to use Odyssey. Doesn't really matter once you're using Titan Blade and Acheron's Grief, though...those (as well as Legend) send out pretty much the very same swords used in the Ragnarok Psynergy series.

As for my other characters' weapons, at the time I wrote this blog I had the Sol Blade equipped to Matthew (Why not? Unless you're experimenting with other weapons like I do on a regular basis...man, how I loved Void Beam Rune Blade spam...) Excalibur set to Tyrell (as I'm having fun with the weapons; for some reason when I got it, both Tyrell and Matthew already had full mastery over the weapon. Perhaps because I gave them both weapons that used the Sky Diver Unleash beforehand...), Karis with the Verdant Sword (it's a mono-elemental weapon with Jupiter alignment, how could I not? Well, one challenger (though it's not mono-elemental and still not quite as useful) - Lachesis' Rule), Rief with Atropos' Rod (Only around this point was I obsessed with rare drops, I never really cared for them beforehand), Amiti with the Sagittarius Bow (Oh, how I love that weapon in Kid Icarus: Uprising, and it hasn't failed me yet in DD), Sveta with the Anpsi Knuckles (Mythril Claw's more damaging with Unleashes, but the other weapons I have for her (Umbra/Anpsi Knuckles, Bloody Claw (Cursed)) seem to be more about status-inducing Unleashes), Eoleo with, as mentioned earlier, the Herculean Axe (It's a somewhat violent animation for Olympus Rage, IMO, as the crash comes so suddenly) and topping it off with Himi and the Tisiphone Edge (YES! More rare drop success! Now if only I had that much success with Sky Dragons and Quality Zol...).

I don't know about you, but I tend to pick them up from time to time to try something new and get my brain going. Recently I picked up Picross e2 (which for some odd reason is cheaper in price than its predecessor, Picross e by a whole $0.90AUD on the eShop) and I have been going at it for a while. So far, the one nonogram of the 150 or so that are included that has given me the most trouble was N02, and it's the only puzzle that forced me to use the Hint Roulette. When I solved the puzzle, it wasn't that hard to figure out why.

Before I move on, a nonogram is what Picross (or a "picture-crossword" as they constantly call it) is all about - a picture puzzle that requires you to fill in spaces that, once completed, reveal a picture. For the Picross games, they are animated or coloured if you manage to finish it within a certain timeframe, usually 30 or 60 minutes (with the select exception of certain ones, like Picross e2's Micross 80x80 nonograms).

Now, I find the Navigation feature introduced in those instalments quite useful, except for in that puzzle. It helps to flash it on every once in a while to see where you could go with a possible square fill, otherwise the only bit of help I use is the Hint Number Auto-check. This is the function that makes the numbers fade when you've filled in the correct spots with certainty of its position relative to the others if there are multiple numbers, or when you've simply filled in the correct amount of spaces on that row or column if it's a single number. VERY useful during Free Mode puzzles, where you are not penalized for mistakes at the cost of not being able to detect them in the first place, but also possibly a double-edged sword if you're not careful and fill in the incorrect positions in relation to the rest of the puzzle (which can cause backtracking and scans for contradictions).

How about you guys? Ever done a nonogram or other puzzle game that you like?

Starters look quite cool. Fennekin's been fanarted VERY quickly, so that makes me scared of what will inevitably happen.

Meanwhile, Chespin's getting the Oshawott treatment. I don't blame them - his face and overall shape just LOOKS like Oshawott to me! XD

Froakie's most likely going to receive that "weird but cool" treatment. It seems like it could be a contender, as it looks like it used Hydro Pump in the trailer.

Speaking of the trailer...the new Legendaries. Y looks a bit vein-like in its markings, and certainly presents a Dark-type aura about him.

X, on the other hand, looked like she had Arceus' legs with shields. I might be invoking this trope by saying "Light is Not Good", but to me, the main body colour of a navy blue with the highlights of yellow don't suggest a "good guy" status to me. Also, its pupils...cue cartoony X_X jokes.

That's all I could really say about what we've seen so far about the Pokémon, so let's dive into the gameplay preview.

Movement looks to be the same grid base as always. Interestingly, everything seems to be a lot larger - while retaining the shrinked characters in some format, as they still look chibi to me.

Hoo boy...we've got a Fire-type Gym and a Bug-type Gym, it looks like.

A dimensional rift in one part? The grid of the house just "constructs" around the character at one point! Does this suggest something for wireless battles?

Now, I'm liking the new battle appearance. It seems that Pokédex 3D Pro really did provide a purpose after all!

And that's all my thoughts on X & Y so far.

...cue XYZ summon jokes.

I know it doesn't happen often, but I imagined this happening less often than what is currently going on. Guess I was wrong...

Tell you what, if there's anything I can say about people I hate...it's that what I want to do is simply sever any connections I had with them, because they don't deserve my respect. That's the only thing I do these days about these people, don't know about you...

If there's ever a fear that I have, it's thanatophobia. The prospect alone really makes me think whether it's worth it or not to do it. My willpower is strong.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing the same with these people. It really does make me sad...not because of their inability, but because of their eventual choice...
Whatever happens to you...someone, somewhere, will be emotionally hurt by your consideration. Do keep it in mind next time...

You've got a nice encyclopedia to refer to whenever you're not near internet sources, and you have some quiz challenges which are quite difficult to play with.

Now, I've been playing around with the AR features. I did a few things, which are outlined as such:

Yes, this is White Kyurem. I actually put this one as my photo for White Kyurem in my Pokédex! What happens when you set it to an entry is that it appears with the photo. You can tap an icon which disables that and then loads the 3D model in the usual environment. It remains loaded until you switch to other Pokédex entries, even if you put the photo back up.

I used a photo background to be able to create this particular image, and took advantage of the possibilities with using background images as a backdrop. This was also set for Black Kyurem's entry in my Pokédex.

<img src="http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/attachments/f30/81372d1352447938t-someone-needs-announce-bmgfs-back-hni_0094.jpg" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.

This one was just a paradox. XD

As you can see I haven't played around with it too much with printed markers. However, what I did do was this!

Yep, Pokémon Red Version & Pokémon Green Version opening...on my desk.

Now, where you can get these markers is simple - on the official website for Pokédex 3D Pro. They're in PDF format and are a full page for the whole file (you might see it in my last photo). However, we don't have Meloetta or Genesect yet, and I suppose their unlocks for both Pokédex entry and for AR code will be talked about soon...perhaps they'll match it to a distribution for the games?

Edit: Also, thanks for the reception in my previous blog post. I'm glad we still know this app exists!

Ok, so to the main point. This thing is supposed to release today, but for some reason the eShop hasn't updated for Australia (usually it updates on Thursday). What's going on, I wonder...? Perhaps they're holding it off for when it's November 8 in the US, where the app will release over there?

I've been listening to Battle! Giratina on repeat while reading through these, as well as switching to Battle! Black Kyurem - White Kyurem on occasion. That's just how much my mind has slipped from a good mood.

Black 2 & White 2 have a lot more in common with Gold & Silver than I had originally thought! Not only a visit to the Unova Region once more (starting in a different town with new routes), new Gym Leaders (albeit less than a standard set of 8), finishing a fight with a villainous team
Case in point, I just took a look at the game's ending sequence. I explained my reasoning here about why the game's ending reminds me more and more of Gold & Silver, and in particular HeartGold & SoulSilver (the latter being the very first Pokémon game I started taking seriously) in relation to the credits themselves and, most importantly, the music that played within it. I also compared it to the previous game's ending theme.

Can someone PM me/leave a comment if it's worthwile making a thread about this kind of thing in the B2W2 Current Event subforum? I might also ask a moderator about it because I seriously want to see if anyone else noticed that about Black 2 & White 2, how it mirrors Gold & Silver in relation to the games that preceded it...

...and I just realised something: The Hall of Fame animations when your Pokémon are inducted - the animation is similar to when the same happens in Generation I's games, with added effects.

And, yes, there are people that care...

Sorry if I get a bit emotional here, but here's a few things: I hate seeing people thinking of ending their own life, no matter if it was real or fake (and much more so if it's myself, as I know that if I had a celestial conscience that I'd regret it...) and in general I've learnt to deal with life problems. They come and go, and they'll teach you a few things.
That, and there's nothing more that I hate than seeing someone vanish from the very plane of existence right when I arrive...

But now to the real question. A little background before we start - when I got word that Meloetta was recently announced as well as the level at which Genesect's distribution was (Level 15, same as Keldeo), I decided that my team was going to feature all three Unova Event Legendaries on my team (trained in my previous Pokémon Black once obtained with EVs because I want to use them competitively later). I had already decided on my starter, that is, a Tepig. I was going to use the sort-of 'canonical team" used by Nate in the Animated Trailer, but I feel like that's going to be a partly scrapped idea. I was also going to use a Magnemite.

So here's the question: Should I have it so that I still have those four (Riolu, Tepig, Growlithe, Magnemite) in my team, just swapped out when needed?
