The games aren't out until October, so you have plenty of time to finish BW2, heck I want to do a White 2 Playthrough, finish FireRed,LeafGreen, Emerald and other things like that, but 9 months is a long wait. People are quite excited that a new generation is here and that its in full 3D on the 3DS and have a worldwide release in October, many of these things(like the worldwide release and the 3D) are firsts for main series Pokemon. We got quite a lot of info from the trailer that isnt usually revealed this early like the Starters and box legendaries, so this all happened kinda fast. That probably contributed to the hype a lot, but every new gen gets a lot of hype.

It's not really any different than the hype for any other generation has been.

I agree with Aquanova - 9 months is a considerable amount of time, plenty of opportunity to continue to focus on BW2. I expect the hype surrounding Gen VI will settle down a bit quite soon, once everyone realises it's still a little while away and that discussions do have a tendency to go around in circles. I would never let someone elses avatar or username bother me though...unless it was something politically, racially or sexually offenive. I would politely suggest that you ignore peoples avatars and stay away from the XY threads...?

What did you really expect on a Pokémon forum?

I don't know about that, Game Freak have hype pretty much down to a science. As soon as there is a chance that hype will start to decrease, they will just release a new piece of information or a new pokemon or something, or even just say that they are going to release something. Just like someone who is really good with Ness in Super Smash Brothers, they are scientists at this stuff.

The hype is perfectly understandable since the games were only just announced.

This. I remember when Gen II was announced, now that was hype. Since then this has happened with every new generation. People are excited about the new games, new Pokemon, and new characters. It's great to be part of a fandom that continues to stay strong through the years and to be able to see games released on a consistent basis. I understand being a little miffed because Gen 6 avatars and discussions are everywhere, but I think we should also count our blessings in that we can celebrate the release of more main series games rather than being limited to celebrating a couple of games released years ago.

It's the same as the hype for Generation V. I mean, c'mon - we're Pokemon fans. Of course some of us will be excited about Gen VI.

It seems like the hype isn't so much what's bothering you as the fact that it's come so soon. To be honest myself, I would've liked to spend some more time with BW2 and HgSs when the next generations were announced. Everything about the next gen looks awesome though, so overhype doesn't exactly play a part in this.

I can't see why we can't get all happy-jumpy over Gen 6 and appreciate (and finish, if one hasn't) B2W2 at the same time. Hype will happen among fans of a game series when a new game for that series is announced.

And besides, hype is fun. :)
