Pokemon is not Pikachu and Charizard!

Well, another orange mass of letters is coming! Well, it is a bit big and unorganized, because it's just random thoughts that enrage me a lot.
It has to do with a board game I played with some relatives of mine (they have started coming for Easter Break). It was basicly a "State 10 <things>" game, in two groups, but with 10 pre-organized answers and time limit. Each group has to state more to get points etc etc
Here comes the good part.
The other group draws a card and asks us "State 10 Pokemon". Ofc, everyone was expecting me to get all 10. I started saying random things like Hydreigon, Haxorus, Togekiss, Croagunk, Gallade, whatever I could remember first . Except that the board game assumes that you may only know things like Pikachu, Charizard and Mewtwo. Well, here are the 10 it had:
Two reasons: They either are important in the Original Series Anime or are considered exteremely powerful by most 5 year old kids around (really, Gengar Alakazam and Charizard are the most powerful non-legends in a 5 year old's eyes). Here is what pisses me off. Everyone, everywhere, will immediately think "Pikachu and Charizard" upon hearing "Pokemon". Like there is nothing else.
TBH, they have done great job in making us think that way. For lots of years we were only getting the Original Series Anime (Greek Dubbed). We also got AG for a while back at Gen 3, but after that DP and BW were only available in cable networks with too little subscribers who can pretty much watch the anime in the Net at the first place. To this extent, what everyone remembers is M01 aired millions of times, Ash watching Ho-oh at the sky at Ep001 (agian shown millions of times) and Charizard kicking butt (IIRC, the anime has once skipeed Indigo League! Probably because Charizard must never sleep but only kick butt? Yeah, probably)
There's no hope. Even at gen 28, everyone will only remember Pikachu and Charizard...
