Literary Taste

I severely disapprove of my sister's literary taste. Well, if you could call it literature: sheis obsessed withlikes this thing called "Dork Diaries".
It's basically a dumbed-down, preppy-girl ripoff of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I tried reading it, and I nearly gagged from all of the shallow, ZOMG BOYS!!oneone!! nonsense in there.
A lot of things in the book annoys me, like the adjectives ("OMG superlong", "I was supersurprised") and the smileys ("IT. MAKES. ME. WANT. TO. SCREAM!!!:(!!!!"). And don't even get me started on the initialisms. (CCP: cute, cool and popular, GGG: Giggling, Gossiping and Glossing.)
And all the spoiled, preppy-girl shit. ("OMG, I want a new phone", "OMG, this pen is supercute", "OMG those boys are hot!")
I am disappoint. When I was her age, I was reading Anne of Green Gables and Black Beauty. And hell, she gets annoyed when I recommend real literature to her. I doubt she even opened that copy of The Giver I gave her.
Then again, I've always heavily disapproved of my family's literary tastes. My aunt genuinely likes Twilight.
I'm still pissed at what she told me when I expressed myloathingdislike of that certain series. "Ah, I know! You're just too young to appreciate Twilight. You're not mature enough. It's not a kiddie book, see."
I had to suppress the urge to shove my copy of A Game of Thrones in her face.
*sigh*
