Need tips on staying awake during class

I take Algebra 107 at a local college as a dual credit course. I got a D in it last year, so I'm trying to replace that with an A to help boost my GPA for getting into college, as well as my college GPA for when I start next year. But after watching problem after problem being solved, I found myself with my head on my desk and my pencil on the floor. No matter how hard I try to stay awake, I just.. can't.

So, as the title suggests, I would like to know what are some tactics for staying awake during class. I do it way too much for planning on going to a $40,000+ college. I even fell asleep in band today. I'm getting about 8 hours of sleep a night, so I don't think it is lack of sleep.

All tips are welcome, and I appreciate your time to read this and/or reply.

Get on the crystal meth, that shit keeps you up all week

Maybe try some sort of diet? Eat something like a banana or whatever before class? I don't know what foods would help, but doing something dietary just seems like a good route to go down with me.

I never had a problem falling asleep in most classes, but in AP Government, I always seemed to fall asleep quickly. I found that pinching myself and widening my eyes helped a little bit, but here are some tips from the "complete worst-case scenario handbook":
-Make yourself uncomfortable, but not too much so (pull hair, prick yourself, etc)
-Keep cold, so you can stay awake. Don't wear a whole lot of clothing.
There are more, but they aren't very conducive to getting a good grade (pretend you are a secret agent, things like that)
    I hope I could help a bit.

Bring a water bottle to class and take a sip whenever you're getting tired. Drink coffee beforehand if that's your thing. Also study outside class so you won't need the lectures as much.

Get a decent amount of sleep the night before. Exercise also helps.
