I really love this game, but I never had the motivation to replay it. So what better encouragement then to hack in my two favorite Pokemon, Sharpedo and Sableye, as the main characters? Using an Action Replay, I made Sableye the hero and Sharpedo the partner. I named them Team Darkstrike, due to them both being Dark-types.

This should be very fun. :D

That's cool, but why did you pick the two worst pokemon?

From my experience with Red/Blue, playing the main storyline as a non-starter pokémon is... not really possible. Not sure to which extent this applies here.

Basically, at many points in the story the game calls for plenty of unique animations, that only are programmed in for the starter pokémon (as, at that point, you can't have any other wandering around in the map). Because other pokémon don't have them, the game crashes.

So you'll probably be finding a few walls in the way. I'd guess that you could change your team again to valid pokémon when this happens though.

I dunno, I've made it a decent distance so far. They do use some pretty funky animations (ie Sableye's eye flashes in place of the sleeping animation), but besides this it's totally fine.
