EXTREMELY annoying. Even those of us celebrating Thanksgiving in November see Christmas ads start to crop up immediately after Halloween. =_=; Sometimes it's more promoted than Black Friday sales ironically enough. I get that Christmas is a good time for business and all, but geez. Kind of dampening the mood for some but putting it on our minds so early.

It's because you can't really over-market Thanksgiving, since all you really need to buy is food.

This happens because this is when retail makes all their money, so they throw Christmas at you, but it is very annoying.

Yeah, but they could at least show more Black Friday ads and wait till after that day has passed to start broadcasting the Christmas stuff. Some of us ACTUALLY enjoy the holiday spirit, and don't like it when it's put on our minds so early. Runs the risk of getting stale by the time Christmas actually does roll around.

That's because Thanksgiving isn't much of a national holiday like Christmas and Halloween (it's more of a U.S. thing).

That's true but for the most part US TV Christmas ads used to only start on or the day after Thanksgiving. The trend only started promoting Christmas after (and even more annoyingly before) Halloween a few years ago. At least in the US.

It's only a month early, they already had Halloween stuff up for like two months here in Australia. Easter's usually like two or even three months early (I presume the only reason Christmas isn't earlier, is because Halloween is blocking Christmas. Thanksgiving isn't in Australia however).

Besides some people put up Christmas stuff in late Novembert, or for people like me do Christmas shopping between late November and really early December (I am not crazy enough to wait for the week before Christmas Day and then do it).

Bah humbug.

True. My gran wants a list of all my presents on the first of November.
Thankfully she wasn't so urgent.
