Then don't call your self agnostic, just play along. I'm not being flippant, while I never had to worry that my financial future rested on my beliefs they have caused me more than a few problems. My beliefs have caused a rift between myself and my mother. I have also lost more than a few "friends" when I finally did reveal to them what my beliefs are, usually the hard core Christians friends. So I just decided not to talk about it anymore. I came to the conclusion that what I believe only concerns me and no one else. I hope this helps you.

There are many people in your situation. If you want to look for people in your situation or a similar one, India is a good place to look. Atheism/agnosticism is not officially recognized by the Indian government, if I understand correctly, forcing people to pretend that they're religious (usually Hindu). My advice would be to follow their example and play along. It won't hurt you to pretend that you're religious, and then when you no longer need to be (a right that you should be grateful for, as the Indians I mentioned before never get it to my knowledge), just be yourself.
