The Start of a Beautiful Friendship?

I drank alcohol for the first time yesterday. You see, my mom doesn't usually drink, but she's given my brother and I the opportunity to have a sip a couple times over the years in an effort to discourage us from drinking later on, hoping of course that we wouldn't like the taste. I've passed each time out of lack of interest in the first place, but my brother reports that beer is tasty. Anyway, for some reason she bought a bottle of wine the other day with my brother and let him have a little bit of it.
I wasn't there at the time, but my brother encouraged me to have some when we came home from school the next day. He didn't like it the first time, but he said the second time around was better. I had a sip of my own and it was... not what I imagined wine would taste like. I guess my idea of wine as fermented grape juice was too simple, because this had plums (plum wine? I don't really know) and spices in it. And regardless of the taste, the hot, tingly feeling it left in my throat was unexpected as well.
So yeah, it was only a little spritz, but I technically drank yesterday. Woo-hoo? I don't know anything about wine (as my assumption of "plum wine" probably proves), but for those who do and are curious to critique my first alcohol experience, it was 2012 Yellow Tail Australian merlot.
