Literally, and I do mean literally, every single time I see the phrase "tear up" (meaning "to cry"), I always always ALWAYS think it's "tare" as in "tear to shreds" instead of "teer" as in "tear in the eye".

Literally every single time ever.

    Move here. The local accent has them as homophones. Even if you do make the mistake, no one will notice.
