I need music in my system at all times. It's a must. So listening to music and reading gets to be a chore, and inevitably, without fail, I lose focus. I wanted to stop that, so I tried reading without music. Then I thought "man, I could use some music right about now" and then turned on some heavy metal and lost focus.
Well, I tried seeing what kinds of music I could listen to and still focus on the reading material. My result: minimalist classical music. Think Philip Glass, if you're familiar with him. It's all nice and pretty and classical (duh), but the minimalism aspect of it, minimalism meaning that the music is very repetitive, makes it easy to have as background music as I read.
What do you guys listen to when you read, if anything? Ambient? Minimalist electronica? Death metal?
