Roughly a year ago, more or less but probably less, I was talking to @Kakuna Matata; about what I thought the Pokemon game to end all Pokemon games would be like. I imagined 3D graphics with a cartoony and stylized yet crisp and clear aesthetic to them, a less grandiose and more intimate storyline, character customization, and less flipping ridiculous Pokemon designs.
As those of you who are familiar with me may know, I'm not really on top of all things Pokemon. I have Silver and I'm still looking for my lost LeafGreen copy, but I don't have any sort of DS and I've never even played a Generation V game at all. But even though I haven't owned very many games in the franchise, Pokemon has been a pretty big part of growing up for me and I won't doubt for a second that I am a big fan. When X and Y were announced earlier this year, I thought, "Well, that's another Pokemon game everyone but me will be playing," but the more I look into it, the more I feel like I really ought to get it (as well as a 3DS to play it on). From what's been released, it looks almost exactly what I've had in mind as a perfect Pokemon title: 3D graphics, great art direction, a little bit of variety in the avatar department, and if this new antagonist gang focused simply on revenue along with this little circle of friends in the form of Trevor, Shauna, and Tierno are indicative, a simpler storyline and more personal atmosphere.
Of course, the game experience as a whole is going to be markedly different from the ecstatic feeling of adventure and whimsy that the trailers give me, I'm sure, but even still, I feel this is the perfect time to finally get back in the groove and enter the realm of Pokemon relevancy (as a kid, I always seemed to be one generation behind the rest). I may have busted my bank on this sweet electric guitar over the past month, but I think I'm gonna start saving up for a 3DS and ask for Pokemon Y for my birthday in March next year. (I can wait, I'm used to waiting.) Why Y? Because I have that chromosome, that's why.
In short, prepare yourselves for impending doom, because Jack Pschitt is going to explode onto the scene come next year, and I'm taking no prisoners! Post-Gen-IV battle mechanics and resulting complete misunderstanding of how the entire game works these days, here I come!
Also, "Inkay" sounds like the grunt I make when I don't want to go the extra mile to pronounce "okay" with any sort of effort.
