Top 10 Best Pokemon of All Time

Rate this Entry
A follow-up to my controversial Top 10 Worst Pokemon list. LC Pokemon and Legendaries will be excluded from the list, so expect all non-legendary ubers to be in it. Just like last time, it'll be in no particular order:

1. Tyranitar
Reason: Sand Stream, Good Bulk, and Superb movepool

2. Ferrothorn
Reason: Grass/Steel typing; the perfect wall; why Stealth Rock is still common

3. Scizor
Reason: Bullet Punch + Tecnician + STAB + base 130 attack + Sword Dance = ouch for low defensive Pokemon

4. Garchomp
Reason: Sand Veil, Base 102 speed, and beast after one Sword Dance

5. Exadrill
Reason: Two Sand-based abilities followed by decent bulk

6. Blaziken
Reason: Speed Boost, followed by new and improved High Jump Kick

7. Conkeldurr
Reason: Base 140 attack, access to Drain Punch and Mach Punch

8. Gyarados
Reason: Lives up to its title as the Atrocious Pokemon

9. Starmie
Reason: BoltBeam combo and Rapid Spin; the perfect sweeper

10. Ditto
Reason: Imposter, enough said

this list fails because of no charizard.

You forgot one variable that can make any Pokemon the best thing ever: the bro factor.
  3. 투 애니원's Avatar
These Pokemon fail if not used with strategy and I've found it so easy to take these Pokemon down with one or two hits.

I agree that they are certainly strong Pokémon in a competitive environment (perhaps you should have made it clear that you meant from a competitive standpoint?) to the degree that I am really wondering why it has taken me so long to think about raising Garchomp. However, I can't help but feel that Metagross should be on that list - it's an absolute beast; especially due to its type combination. I'd replace Starmie with Metagross to be honest.

I doubt everyone uses these exact same strategies with these Pokémon. So, "All Time" wouldn't really be accurate.

This is the dumbest and least well thought out thing I have ever read in my entire life.

    What about Stallrein and Salamence?

Shoot, thanks for reminding me about Metagross, and I couldn't find a placement to mention their competitive use because then it'll sound weird to say it out loud and in your mind.

    Wheres Empoleon? @Ghetsis-Dennis
  10. Ghetsis-Dennis's Avatar
@Shiny Shinx The absence of Empoleon and Salamence can explain why it took me a while to make this list. The fact that I included the non-legendary ubers made things more complicated because I knew Blaziken now outclasses Infernape because of Speed Boost.

I forgot to explain my statement earlier, sorry! But these aren't the best Pokemon of all time.

Sure, they're good for the metagame. But what makes a Pokemon 'best' are your own personal experiences. Perhaps you got lucky and somehow won a match with Luvdisc when the odds were against you? Or how Bulbasaur is amazing because it was your first starter ever. IMO, fond memories are what make a Pokemon good, not just metagame skills. (Which are also important to many.)

okay, and most people can't get the DW starters. I do agree with Conkledurr, Scizor, and Garchomp though.

Are you sure you actually plan in the metagame and don't just read about it? Because that's what it seems like.

    You got good tastes, Dennis!

Good list. But you definitely needed to put Metagross on there. If you couldn't think of a reason:

Outstanding attack. Great defense. Can learn Hammer Arm and Gyro Ball. Can also learn Bullet Punch to counter speed drop.

You should have put Charizard on here as well for awesomeness!

Yeah, I completely forgot about Metagross. Having only two weaknesses and STAB Meteor Mash is really beast. Is it too late to edit out Starmie for Metagross?

Ok. I accually like this list now, 'cause Empoleon and Salamence was some of the Pokemon that I had alot of good memories with, along with Blaziken, Raquaza, Groudon, Kyoger, Sealeo, and Wailord.

Excatcally, however, it seems like alot of my Pokemon that I had the best or most memorable experiences, just happen to be tough Pokemon. But don't get me wrong, I still get what yer sayn' completely. Accually, my Blaziken, which happens to be my first starter ever, I tought it kinda bad moves: Cut, Slash, Quick Attack, and Double Kick.

So you basically copied Smogon's usage list and added some ubers to it huh? xD

According to those logics all pokémon fail, because they're all easily beatable with the proper counter.

^My Empoleon who is not EV trained can beat a EV trained Tyranitar, in 2 hits, with ether Surf or Hydro Pump. Plus my Empoleon can servive a Tyranitar's Earthquake.

Yeah, and it pretty much shows Smogon's influence to the community and how GF needs to fix such things so Water, Fighting, Steel, and Ground aren't dominant. It's really upsetting to the point where I was forced to add Charizard on my Top 10 Worst despite it being one of my favorites.
