I don't think you should treat a psychologist like a be all and end all. I just think that if there is a mental conflict you cannot resolve within yourself alone and people around you (like you father) won't seem to give considered and open-minded responses you should try to get the unbiased psychological help you deserve. I don't think people give counselors enough credit and I think too many people spend too much time being conflicted/unhappy when sometimes a little bit of outside perspective and input without any personal judgements/opinions would help. I think you need to build confidence and understand more of how your own mind works, if you can, and a counselor/psychologist is a good place to consider starting with that.

Well I am fully aware what may be causing my mental conflict. The problem is that I'm not sure which one is the primary cause:

- The need to be in a long-term relationship with someone precious to me
- The dream of seeing one of my most suggested characters appear in the next SSB title
- The concern of negative opinions on the internet destroying the quality of long-running products (Pokemon, Star Wars, Disney, etc.)
- Paranoia

And you don't have to live with those making you unhappy. I'm not going to try to make you do something if you don't feel it's what you want, I don't know what else you could want me to tell you by this point. All I know is that even if you don't believe it now (because I didn't myself) an unbiased psychological professional can help you to cope with or even change all of those things and stop them impacting your mental wellbeing so much.

That is really all I have to say on the matter. Take it or leave it, but please don't ever immediately reject something just because your father says it's not necessary.
