That's pretty much it. It also helps that they have large marketing campaigns, a new game every year and a large fan base.

@Orion; Wouldn't it technically be 5 since there have been CoD games on the original Wii, but seeing that it's on its last legs and is getting replaced by its successor, your point is still valid.

To be fair, the fanboys have a reason to bash CoD given how it's forcing other developers to make their own versions, and the hardcore gamers want Nintendo to join the bandwagon if they want to save themselves from going out of business by war simulators.

People like what they like, and you can't change their opinions. If they think "dark and gritty war simulators" (implying CoD is a realistic simulation of war, lol) are fun, then that's what they'll play.

Instead of bashing them or looking down on them just because their idea of fun is different than yours, you should try to be more accepting.

The problem is that they're all over the place with little to no variety for other genres in the western culture, and if you watched the Game Overthinker, you see that these war simulators are driving the game industry into a black hole. Dark and Gritty doesn't automatically make a game awesome. Just ask Shadow the Hedgehog and Bomberman.

Because Black Ops 2 is actually a beautiful game.

People don't dislike the game, they dislike the fan base. Ask any online Xbox player such as myself and people aren't really joking whenever we talk bout all the little kids playing COD and apparently banging all of our moms.

Other than that though, it is actually a pretty good game.

If you read the comments, they seem to be bashing more on the actual game than its annoying fanbase, because of how every CoD game since the 4th has been the same (reusing the same maps and whatnot). Although Black Ops 2 is bringing some innovation to the franchise, it's not going to stop them from bashing the franchise as a whole because: 1) There's too many FPS games in the western culture, and 2) They don't want a generic war simulator to be the number 1 best-selling franchise of all time, outranking both Mario and Pokemon, which the fanbase like to bash for their kiddy appearance.
