Spam or not?

I've been thinking about this for quite a while, and I just want to see what you guys think.
Another forum that I'm on does not allow full caps posts, and rarely allows caps at all. They consider it "spam."
Now, in my twisted mind, their definition of spam is correct. Anything that is offensive, inappropriate (to a certain extent), or does not add to the conversation. Does that include stuff like caps lock? Personally, using capital letters is my favorite way of conveying feelings. Use it alone to convey anger. Use it with an emoticon, such as "xD" or "^^;" to indicate in a joking matter. Use it with D:< or >:D to indicate frustration, pleasure, or even revenge-ish. Use it with :( to indicate extreme disappointment.Originally Posted by chipbennett
I understand that what the moderator put in the rules is, in his eyes, for the best of the forum, and I respect his decision. It's just something that's kinda been bothering me.
So, with that said, what do you guys classify spam as? What are some examples of it? And also, what's your opinion on caps lock? What do you use it for?
