So I was thinking about doing this about a month ago, but I decided not to due to lack of time. Because I'm participating in the biggest meet I've ever participated in this weekend, I decided to just throw out a small twelve-song playlist of my favorite songs to listen to during a normal swim meet.
Songs I listen to before a meet (like, in the car)
The day of a meet, I first like to listen to less-intense songs with a lesser amount of screaming. As I get closer to warming up, I start listening to more intense, and more intense music until it gets to the point of screaming, to pump me up. Here's three examples of songs I'll typically listen to before a meet.
Father's Son by 3 Doors Down
Then on to more intense: Just Like You by Three Days Grace
And finally: Toxicity by System of a Down
Songs I listen to before a race
These songs are supposed to get me pumped up for my next race. Some examples:
Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace
Citizen Soldier by 3 Doors Down
Stupify by Disturbed
Songs I listen to after a race
After a race, I listen to music that has a loud chorus, but the rest of the song is soft. MORE examples:
Longview by Green Day
Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups
Get Out Alive by Three Days Grace
And then, the last three songs are songs that I ALWAYS listen to during a meet.
Self-Esteem by The Offspring
It's my favorite Offspring song, so why the hell not. It's a happy-carefree headbanging party song. I listen to this before a meet, and after an extremely good race.
This Means War by Nickelback
I typically listen to this to get me pumped up after a really bad race to shake it off and get ready.
Down With The Sickness by Disturbed
This is the last song I listen to before my last race. I try to use the song as fuel to make me go faster because of the loud, heavy guitar riffs and stuff.
Pointless blog entry is pointless, but I had a weird urge to post it.
