Today my Japanese class talked to Japanese people

We were divided into groups with one Japanese speaker per group. What I learned:
1. I cannot keep my tenses consistent, especially with です/だ.
2. Telling some one your Computer Science midterm was easy will provoke an interesting reaction.
3. I forgot everything I learned about Japanese history.
For people who are actually interested in the language, I also learned that the lack of differentiation between the present and future tense means that I need to clarify my sentences. I asked the person:
I was asking what she normally does on the weekends. She thought I was asking what she will do this weekend. I guess I should have asked:
