Titanic is going to be theatrically re-released in 3D next year.

Certainly a sign of the times.

The people falling to their deaths will practically pop out of the screen!

What he's simply doing is finding ways to use 3D in a form of art as appose to things poping right in front of you which most 3D movies abuse. Also, 3D's just a harmless gimmick, remember when people thought CGI was a sign of the time, or TV was a sign of the time, etc?

Never liked the film. Never will. 3D or not.

I fail to see how converting a 14 year-old film to 3D advances the technology in any meaningful way (unless showing new ways to cash in on old films counts as meaningful).

I consider 3D different from other technological developments since 3D usually is used during fad periods, whereas the CGI was a real development used in meaningful ways.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is going to be re-released in 3D too :/

Have you not read his article about his interest in using 3D at different use? Also, CGI is being hated by veteran movie fans since the early 2000's because they want models/animatronics/stop motion back in cinema(all because of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy).

3D has been given a bad stigma which it doesn't quite deserve. It can be done well.

@DCM; But it usually isn't done well, and it's usually just done as a gimmick. That's one of the problems.
