when you're thinking about why humans evolved in the way we did and realize that EVERYTHING THAT EVER HAPPENED IN TERMS OF BIOLOGY WAS AN ACCIDENT.

Like, whoa. Seriously, the only reason we aim to survive is that the species that had those odd mutations that made them aim for that too, so they didn't die. Not as some built-in thing in life, like I'd dismissed it as.

The scale of accidentallying is just wow.

I wouldn't really call it an accident. To put it in perspective, think about the millions of mutations that were not beneficial and therefore did not become a permanent change. If you think about it that way it seems less accidental because after millions of tries nature was bound to get it right eventually.

Nah, that's fine. I won't argue with them, just go "Oh God, you're right!" and end the conversation.

But exactly! That same thinking actually led me to the realization of accidentallyness. The beneficial mutations accidentally occurred, even after quadrillions of tries where it had to get it after a while.
