Note: Whatever I write in this blog is my opinion.

I just discovered that you can't even unlock challenge mode in black 2 without having 2 ds. I have one (ds) and barely bought it and obviously not getting another anytime soon.

So, does GF seriously believe that everybody has 2 ds and loads of IRL friend playing Pokemon(also referring to Entralink)? What a awesome scheme to arm-twist the audience into buying another DS and game card so that they can unlock all the features!

This is one feature I was looking forward to since months and it goes down the gutter. I am seriously contemplating never buying another Pokemon game if they are gonna screw up some of the most basic features like difficulty mode, which would be a first since I have been playing the games since I was 9. I was seriously looking forward to this game, and it has, apart from a couple of features(like the game prompting me to reuse the repel when it wears out) has been disappointing.

COD is panned since they release the same game year after year and just change the maps and tweak a couple of weapons and call it a day. Pokemon just did the same thing: just added a couple of areas, changed the story(COD does that too!) and added PWT(which doesn't even allow 6vs6 singles) and changed the available weapons..uh I mean Pokemon roster and called it a day!
Oh, I would rather have only 50 mons, rather than have Zubat and Ratatta in any game again.

Frankly I didnt see much of a difference between b2w2 and a third version apart from the story line and WITH NO BATTLE FRONTIER! Maybe because these were the first "sequels", I was expecting a lot from them. Heck even Pokemon Conquest was more entertaining than b2w2.

I'm lucky enough to have siblings with DSes (wow that plural looks weird)

Implying that Pokemon needed a difficulty setting to begin with. There's always the Black Tower and White Hollow. Also, if you're really angry about this, then why can't you just quit the franchise as a whole?

A difficulty feature had been on many fans' wishlist for some time. The fact that, when they did add it, it was as a postgame feature that is split between two games, is an understandable point of contention.

@Ghetsis-Dennis; Fans have wanted a difficult setting for a long time.

Actually, it's entirely possible to unlock Challenge Mode in Black 2 with one DS. You must be thinking of Easy Mode.

While you do unlock challenge mode after beating the Champion in B2, you can only use it for the post-game stuff. If you restart your B2 game, challenge mode is gone. So in order to get it from the very beginning, you have to have 2 DSes and 2 games or have a friend willing to send challenge mode to you. And keys can only be transferred via IR connection, so the friend has to be someone you can meet up with.

Basically a bunch of fail all around :/

@SharKing; obviously he means that he gets to play the entire game in challenge mode, and not just the post-e4 stuff. And for that you will need two ds'es regardless of the version you have.

I quite enjoyed B2W2, I found it different enough. My only real gripe is that I thought the story could have been better managed.

But yeah, I hate the key system (though the one with Black Tower/White Treehollow is fine as a bonus to people who have access to both versions). Challenge mode itself wasn't challenging at all, I wish that they made it...well, harder.

But if you look at other traditional RPG games, neither of them use difficulty settings. The reason why it's unnecessary is because you're still able to outlevel and curbstomp CPUs.

And that's relevant why? The fact of the matter is a. fans have wanted alternate difficulty for a long time and b. when we got it, it was horribly implemented.

The capability to do something does not imply the inevitability of doing it.

And that is why I keep telling everyone how Gen 5 is more controversial than Gen 3 and how it'll lead to the franchise's downfall, because of the demands of longtime fans like Clowncrete.

Beat the Elite 4, go to Unova Link. Just click the option and its unlocked.

What's stupid is if you unlock someone else's challenge mode, they don't actually have the key and therefore cannot unlock other people's challenge mode.

Yes, it's the fan's fault that Masuda initially decided to create two Gray versions just for the Unova link feature. Obviously, there was no other way to create the option of sharing data with only one version.

    @Ghetsis-Dennis;

Why the fu*k should I quit a franchise which I have spent atleast 9 years of my life on? I still love the core concept of Pokemon, that is battling, not the way the games are implemented.

Why have you not quit the franchise over Stealth Rock, competitive value of Pokémon over favourites as well as the imbalace in the metagame? They're not changing anytime soon as 5/6 years have shown.

When you find the answer to my question, you will then see why I heavily advise you never to ask someone why they haven't quit the franchise.
