Sinking in my sea of pain

I just started this. I am looking for some battles (gen IV and V), unfortunately I don't have that maybe pokemon to boast of thus far so, so I can't really fall into too many tiers or anything.

I have attempted to RNG for shinies on both platinum and emerald. I have tried countless times and only gotten one shiny. I have been like overly careful about how i RNG:

On platinum i write down everything about the lvl 50+ pokemon i catch, (plug everything into the RNg reporter) and I keep track of each tap and each heads or tails on the coin flip and still no shinies!

and on emerald i have (at least i think) everything calculated right and i use the emloop timer ...
