UC's Y Adventure part 5: Let's Finish the Party!

Finally reached my goal of making a team with one Pokemon from each generation! (after an evolution, that is) Caught a female Piloswine, so once she evolves I'll have that balanced-type team! My team also has 3 males and 3 females, while my Gen V teams were always 4 males/ 2 females.
Speaking of Mamoswine, that riding sequence is very silly. It's just your character sitting on top of a mound burying itself in snow! I think that running into Pokemon while in a giant snow bank is a novel idea, and catching them while astride a big beast.
The guy telling you and the rivals that story in the scary house felt totally random. I expected more. I tipped him 500 Pokedollars. Let's see where that goes.
Laverre City is very ethereal and pretty. I like its whole concept, and the clothes they sell in its boutique are really cool (pretty much like a lot of my IRL fashion style) They say it's a little quirky, and that describes me pretty well too. It was a shame that the story shuttled you through that town so fast. Let me reword that: the story shuttled you between the 5th and 6th badges VERY fast. It was like it made up for the extended time between the first two badges. The Poke Ball Factory was similar to the Power Plant scene, but it felt a little quick itself. It's nice to see the games acknowledge that Poke Balls have to come from somewhere. (but Kalos doesn't import them from other regions? Way to support your own national workforce!)
Valerie's Gym had that cool dollhouse concept. Was this the first time you could sit on a toilet in a Pokemon game? LOL! And let me say, Klefki has to have the cutest concept of any inanimate-object Pokemon!
And Frost Cavern: It can't be a Pokemon game without an ice puzzle, can't it? I still get nightmares about my first attempt at those ice sheets during my first playthrough of Silver way back when.
I do like how you can see your character's breath in the colder towns! And the snow in Dendemille Town stopping after I saved that Abomasnow from Team Flare was a thing of beauty.
The Lost Hotel disappointed me a little. I expected to find lots of Ghost types there, when it was just a hangout for degenerate punks. Is that the only place in the game with an item in a trash can, and it has to be a shaking green plastic one?
Some route trainers deserve shoutouts: the Hex Maniac who made a meta comment about me being the protagonist of a game, the Hiker who SPOKE IN ALL CAPS, and the Pokemon Ranger with the Power Rangers references.
I'm now in Anistar City, having learned the story of Yveltal from years ago, and am about to challenge Calem in front of the Gym.
I also don't feel so bad about not being able to speedrun Pokemon games: I talked to the 13-year-old son/ brother of some family friends who's playing X, and he said he has 3 badges and considers himself "pretty far into the game." I really do like savoring my experience during the main story and exploring as many places as possible!
