Generations, Versions, and Regions.

What annoys me sometimes is how people confuse generations, games and regions. For example, Hoenn and Generation III are not synonymous. Yet, people sometimes switch between these two names. Of course, in the case of Hoenn, it is allowable, since there's no other generation that contains Hoenn, but one should remember that Gen III also includes FireRed and LeafGreen. Another example: when one talks about Johto, they are not necessarily talking about Gold and Silver. HeartGold and SoulSilver also contain Johto. And when one talks about Gen IV, they could be talking about the Kanto of HeartGold, instead of Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum. But Gen IV refers to all these games. I think you see what I'm getting at...
And so, to illustrate the differences, and relationships, between generations, versions (i.e. games), and regions, I have made the diagram below:
(I also realize that the difference is usually not that important, but I really want people to know the difference exists.)
I hope that everyone reading this now understands the difference, in case they already didn't know.
That is all, for now.
