Aren't I HATOFUL?!?!

*For those who read my last blog I finished 1 out of the 6 essays that I said I would do. Isnt that just WONDERFUL?*

Previously on my last blog I mentioned that something I discovered recently has had me behind on my classes for a while and I am now going to talk about it. It is called Hatoful Boyfrend.

It is a pigeon dating simulator. NO YOU DID NOT READ THAT WRONG

Im going to explain a little bit of what it is: It was originally a April Fool's Day joke that the creator of this "game" put on the internet because she though that most Japanese Dating Sims were too "normal". But then she decided to make it a reality and made Hatoful Boyfriend. I found out about it when one of my subscriptions on YouTube reviewed the game and out of curiosity decided to check it out. The more I saw of it the more I wanted to play it myself and so I downloaded the free trial and eventually got the full version of it for $5.25 and it was well spent.

The plot of Hatoful Boyfriend is basically that you are a HUMAN GIRL attending an ALL PIGEON SCHOOL. Your mission is to find true love with a birdy boyfriend and get the happy ending you deserve. You can date 7 pigeons (8 in the full version) and each of them has a different personality and they have very interesting stories to them. The game will make you laugh, cry, scared, and it has some of the most WTF moments I've seen. The full version has 2.5x more content than the free trial so yeah...The birds when you first meet them will show a human persona of themselves if you choose to show them before you play and here they are:

Ryouta:

Ryouta here is a rock dove and your sickly childhood friend. He is a little mischievous but he is responsible and kind

Kazuaki:

Kazuaki here is a quail and your narcoleptic math teacher. He is also a famous, well-known mathematician

Sakuya:

Sakuya is a fantail pigeon. He is a snotty transfer student who's an actual noble.

Nageki:

Nageki is a mourning dove. He is the quiet boy in the library

Yuuya:

Yuuya is a fantail pigeon and a upperclassmen. He's a bit of a flirt though

Shuu:

Shuu is a chukar partridge, the school/ninja doctor and has a CREEPY reputation in school for some reason.
*IMO he is my FAVORITE out of all of them despite what he does to you...WAAAAAHHH!!*

Oko-San:

Oko-San is supposedly a fantail pigeon and the eccentric track team captain who's obssessed with pudding and is hyper

I wont be showing the eighth one in this post. Sorry guys! In all honesty, I put alot more effort into this blog than any of my essays...I should feel ashamed but Im not.

Anyways, what do you guys think? And if there are any fans of the game here, please I wanna know who you are (not in a creepy way). I feel like im the only one who knows about this game. Well until next time!

It sounds... intriguing, to be honest. Maybe I'll try it sometime. I don't know. XD

I've been wanting to play Hatoful Boyfriend so bad! I've heard its actually really good - and apparently you forget that they're actually pigeons as you progress through the VN.

Yeah they feel like humans to me because of the personalities that were given to them

Unfourtunatley, yes he is. However in the full version if you manage to get his COMPLETE ENDING, its alot creepier that just getting killed and is considered his "good" ending...but I still love him

Ah, I know about this game, thanks to someone I follow on Tumblr, who is quite cool. Yeah, though it's a pigeon dating sim, it does seem to turn into a tragic and slightly horrifying game, I've noticed. It's much deeper than perceived initially.

Yes especially if you play BBL which is the alternative route in the full version.

This game is great. Got to the end of Ryouta route at first, but then I took the alternative route where

Hiyoko is killed

which looked really intriguing (but it was the free version so I only got the preview).

Yeah the full version is actually quite long and there is so much that you learn about the characters and the moments... oh man....I felt like crying...
