One reason why I like the Pokemon anime more than Pokemon Special/Adventures

Eh, just because.
Pokemon Special is definitely darker, which is one of the reasons why some people prefer it over the anime. It's the dark, more mature world older fans have always wanted. I, however, don't really care for it. Sometimes it works in the manga's favor, making the situations at hand seem more dire. Pokemon are often used in creative and often realistic ways, with stunning surprises. Other times, it just makes the story feel like a generic fanfic. In the end, though, I feel that the manga doesn't capture my vision of the Pokemon world as well as the anime.
The anime is far more childish. But the games are primarily aimed at children. The anime is happy, everyone is warm and caring, if a little sadistic at times. (Dawn didn't seem to mind that her Pokemon incinerated dozens of Ariados.) The world is filled with bright colors and smiling faces. It's full of adventure! Sure, there are risks. Sure, there are dark times.
But in the end, the anime's world of Pokemon is essentially a child's paradise. No matter what you're doing, no matter where you are, you'll always have friends standing by you. No matter your ups or downs, you're still a winner because you have Pokemon you love and care about. The anime is essentially innocence and fun and adventure incarnate.
The games, while much darker than the anime, are still pretty innocent. The characters are quirky, the villainous team minions are adorably incompetant, and any Pokemon, big or small can be your friend. It's still a bowl of sugar.
Would I like the anime to get more mature and occasionally darker at times? Sure. But I would always want it to stay true to its roots as a fun adventure about friendship and Pokemon. And friendship with Pokemon. A world where you're always accepted if you love Pokemon.
Edit: tl;dr: the Pokemon Special world is vision of the Pokemon world, but not my vision.
