Hi, nerds.

Maybe 4Kids is the better dubbing company. Maybe the current VAs are great. Maybe the writing is getting better and better, or worse and worse. It's always great to have opinions and discussions on the anime, the staff, and the companies. But sometimes, discussions and debate on the anime can get pretty heated. Then you have these debates in blogs that are months or even years old, hidden from view. It makes it really hard to moderate these discussions, and we'd have to depend on reports or catching them amongst the recent comments.

To make moderating the blogs easier, you can make a blog and discuss/debate heated topics about the anime. But once that blog is about a month old (or less, if you feel that the blog has gotten old or has become too buried to reasonably look for), you can't continue your discussions there. You can, however, make another blog and continue where you left off. If you've ever seen art request threads on 4Chan, it's essentially like that.

If you see someone posting in an extremely old blog, please report it. Since the rule is pretty new, you'll just get a nudge in the right direction so they know about the rule. Ignoring the rule and continued discussion will result in infractions.

(So now, instead of seeing these fights pop up in the recent comments, you can now see them on the first page! : D)

Any questions or comments? :)

Seems like a good idea although I refrain from getting involved in blogs like this nowadays. Feel like i've said all I want to say by now. Glad the staff are allowing continued discussion though, it does get heated and I was worried that such blogs might become banned. The anime shouldn't be a taboo subject so i'm pleased that the continued discussion is allowed.

Thank you, I'm extremely tired of the bitching VA discussion. Especially when the anime section itself has already turned into a cesspool of chronic bitching 24/7 and war zone that makes everything feel very personal had quite a few similar outbreaks.

@EmotionalTensionPKMN; I'll answer here in case people have a similar question.

So the new rule is essentially that we can only post in blogs less than a month old. Is that right?
So far it's just for anime blogs, since they usually result in long debates that go on forever.

And FYI, you and the others who do this aren't in trouble. Since it's hard to keep track of these blogs after such a long time, it's much easier if you guys continue on in newer blogs.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up. :)

I'm laughing because it is true.

Actually I only post in my blog to share my thoughts on the series, characters, VAs, dubs, etc. so as not to bring that stuff up as much in the anime discussion. I didn't expect so many people to check out my blog. Pleasant surprise, though. XD.

I do feel bad for being such a negative pessimist about things, though. I really can't help it, though. Apologies if I offended you.

No one take it the wrong way, it's just the bitching 24/7. It's literally the same shit every day. Yoshi-san made a quote about it last year at the beginning of January and I remember it clear as day:

IMO constant negativity in a fandom can ruin it in my eyes. If the only place that I can have "intelligent" discussion about a show I love is constantly negative, and I only have good things to say, I feel I won't be noticed or no one would care about how I feel about the matter.

Negativity is everywhere yes, however too much can be a downer on those who want to focus on the positives. Yeah yeah fanclubs and all that but most of the time either fan clubs are mostly dead or all about complaining about the negativity.

Yeah, yeah. I'm bitching about bitching, seriously, just think to yourself. "Isn't it worth it?"(I WANNA RING THIS CHARACTER'S NECK, really?) Then there's the unspoken of war going on with Iris fanatics versus Iris haterz vs. OS haters vs. Veronica lovers vs. dp fanatics vs. some discussion about development whatever vs. rocket fanatics vs. Donphanz, can we all just chill? It'd be nice to enjoy the show without animosity and discuss it without being afraid of what someone will say in return fire. Like the anime section used to be back when Karamazov wasn't a mod and the like for example and everyone could enjoy and discuss shit without it being a battle field.

I like having discussions with people with different viewpoints, it's fun without condemning them.

After spending time on that site that shall not be mentioned, I think I've learned to take discussions and things in this show less seriously. Because at the end of the day, I'm less stressed and I enjoy the show more and there's less strife with others.

Just to make sure, it's only regarding controversial anime topics and arguments, right? I post a lot of concept/retro art from the anime, it'll be a shame if no one would be able to comment on those after a certain point.

That's perfectly fine. And if you want, you can make multiple blogs on concept art.

I have no clue what you're talking about.

Whiny bitches, shut up and watch cartoons. I kid, I kid.
    :/

Anyway, I'm glad the rule exists. I have been wondering if it would be added. Good job!

Honestly, it just genuinely feels legit negative most of the time. It's not meant to insult others, it's not meant to sound rude but it does get a bit on-edge at times believe it or not. It feels like a war zone than a Pokemon cartoon discussion forum. It's just literally the same thing every day, I like BW and like Iris but I'm just so glad it'll be ending soon and she'll be leaving if only for the anime sections to go back to what they were before. Everything was more lax and it just felt like a overall more chill environment, a DP-ish series in XY would be nice(Even though I'm not DP's biggest fan.) if it keeps the environment calm and at bay. I'll take that over what I want just for a nice anime forums again. Even looking at older post from way back you can see a difference so great in the overall air about things that it can almost be physical felt.

    :/
That was joking, but I suppose I should have been careful about that.

You guys can talk about how the fandom makes you feel, but this blog is concerning the new rule. You're totes free to make another blog about it, though.

Great! With all that debating (and when I see an old blog from yesteryear getting commented on, seen via the "Recent Comments" section, even though it's not on the "Recent Blogs" section), it gets me tired.

And now, the dawn of a semi-new age! Finally, a near-end to all this bitching...

By month old, do you mean the day the blog was written, or the day of the most recent comment?

Also, I propose a modification; the author should be able to revive their own blog, grant permission for another user to do so, or simply state that it has no expiration. After all, the conversation may typically be more personal than just an average forum thread, so the author ought to be granted more control, don't you think?

    @Bluelatios;
The day the blog was written.

@ the modification: The issue was that people would hide in old blogs or revive long-dead arguments, and due to them being so hidden, it would be a lot harder for moderators to catch any rule-breaking. If you're really having a personal conversation, VMs would be better, and wouldn't clog up the recent comments. (You also have things like Skype and AIM if you want to have a group talk.)

Hmm, well I suppose that can't be helped but I'm also wondering which anime blogs you are taking about. I search for anime blogs and comments on a regular basis, and only a couple have been revived lately.

For the record though, while this may be for solving moderation issues, this isn't going to do much to make "heated" topics more friendly which is what I'd really like to happen.

It hasn't been as common as of late, but it was mostly the voice acting blogs or Misty/OS debates. Remember your dealings with Scott, MCM and others in those blogs? It was really getting hard to moderate those, and with this new rule, it should keep things from getting to what they were in the past.

As for making the topics friendlier overall, we've been dealing with some troublemakers already. And with the new rule, it'll be easier to catch people trying to bait others. We'll still try to see these debates work to become friendlier, but people participating in these debates need to work on improving the atmosphere, too.

Speaking of Scott, he doesn't even come here anymore, so I'm not sure we'd need this rule (I don't like it much, to say the least), he was the main problem

The rule is definitely a plus, but isn't an easier solution than that? I mean, we once had the "do not discuss Gen 3 remakes" rule. Can't we have one "Discussing Pokemon Anime VAs results in automatic Flame/Bait infraction"?

It may be radical, but the anime is not all about a VA change 8 years ago, we have other things to discuss.

There already was a ban on VA talk like that in the anime forum before Best Wishes, and that didn't work out too well. The debates also extend to other parts of the anime. And it would be kind of unfair to ban this for everyone just because of a few people's discussions that sometimes go on for too long.
