My mom had a breakdown

My dad found her wandering around, trying to get to the forest despite it being so dark outside. After he brought her back home, he went to the washroom. She took that time to take off. She didn't have her phone with her, so we couldn't contact her.

After looking for her, I found her walking around. Since she refused to take my phone with her, I walked with her to make sure she didn't get herself hurt. So I had to listen to her talk about how her kids destroyed her life, how she doesn't need anyone, and all these other lame things. I finally convinced her to take a break at home, and I sat with her in the rain while she had a smoke, because I was sure she would take the chance to run off if I left her alone.

My step-dad spent hours talking to her, before finally convincing her that she's not well and needed to rest. She's in bed now. My step-dad told me that she was mad that he told my sisters that he knew I was gay (they all knew I was gay, so it's fine) to see if they could help me should I ever feel uncomfortable. My mom thought this was out of bounds, and got offended because she's heavily medicated, just watched my sister get on her plane and go back home, and hasn't slept; therefore, she's not thinking clearly.

So yeah, fun day. ^__^'

I might go to my dad's for a few days, lol.

You know, my mother had a similar (but scarier) breakdown last September. I know pretty much exactly how you feel.

I'm glad no further harm came to her when she was off walking alone, and hope that this was the worst of it.

Worrisome to be sure when something like that comes about. I'm just glad nothing dire happened.

I'm sure she will get better soon. The good part is, the first steps of the breakdown (which are the most dangerous) left her unscathed.

That's really sad it seems like almost everyone has emotional problems these days although I can't imagine my mum having a breakdown, it must be extra upsetting to watch. At least she has the support of you and the rest of your family.

That's really rough, sorry to hear that. The important thing is she wasn't hurt.

I know exactly how you feel. My mom has breakdowns like this every so often, usually directed at my dad. She's threatened to kill herself a couple of times, though we all know she'll never do it. Her issue is like you mom, she doesn't sleep well. That and she gets too stressed out. She goes on about how her life is crap, how she just wants to die, we've ruined her life, etc. She has antidepressant medication now.
